Honestly didn't ask anyone in Jackson this weekend. Just enjoyed some basketball and talked with Louisiana people. I figure what the public knows they'll know. He'll announce in next couple weeks, not big on the day to day flip flopping like some. Leave that to the "crystal ball" watchers. Those fools just change every day or two to say they were right at one point.
Not sure how I feel about that

I watched Sampson on the AAU circuit last summer. The kid can play. Clean stroke and elevates well. He'd be a great addition to the class, especially if Newman goes elsewhere, as I expect.

So I guess we welcome in Kasongo now? I don't mind that since he's almost a replica of Mickey

Yeah, that's who I'm thinking we're going after. He's a lot bigger then Mickey.

I think he'd be great to come off the bench. Now I'm banking on Epps and Robinson using the situation as motivation to be ready for next season
The transfer market and 5th year senior markets always have promising players too. LSU is an awfully attractive destination with its depth and talent

Yeah, I was looking at that but it's mostly guards/wings right now, which we have plenty of

Epps was a guy who the coaches were high on before the season, and one of the coaches even said that Epps had one of the purest shots on the team. I really hope he works hard this season because there aren't too many 6'9 guys with his length plus

athleticism

If we're going the JUCO route, I hope we look at Chris Boucher. Long, athletic big with a very legit offer list.

We need a guy who can bang though, how good is defensively at just 200 pounds?

Do we really need a guy who can bang around in the paint? Victor will be that to a degree, but look at how players have done in LSU's system who are big banger types... It's hard to keep up with the pace LSU likes to play when you are a bigger guy. You take the positives with the negatives of going fast.

Absolutely, we need a guy when Simmons and Victor are off the floor to soak up minutes and play tough defensively. Malone at some rare times could do this last season but the majority of the time we either got dominated in the paint or we fouled over and over.
Also, our pace isn't blazing, especially last season. JOB III did great. Not saying we need a good 260 pounder, just a guy who can make other team's bigs uneasy in the post. Can a guy who has the size of Epps really do that?

As well as Mickey did this year...

Simmons, Victor, Epps, Robinson, and Kasongo is an upgrade on what LSU had inside this year.
Epps is going to surprise people. He's got Mickey-like length/athleticism with more skill.

He's way taller then Jordan. Quicker too.

Epps is quicker rim to rim than Martin and shoots better. But has the length and quick bounce of Mickey. Just raw and weak elsewhere. Needs (or needed if he can get it together sooner) the time. Injuries took away his summer and most of the Fall (carried into season as well).

Hopefully Epps can add about 15-20lbs this off season. I'm looking for big improvements from him!
