The NCAA Eligibility Center is waiving the standardized test score requirement for incoming freshman student-athletes in both Division I and Division II for the 2020-21 academic year because of the coronavirus pandemic, the governing body announced Friday.

Students who expect to graduate from high school in time to enroll in a Division I school this coming academic year will be academically eligible by earning a combined 2.3 grade-point average in the 10 NCAA-approved core courses, with a combined seven in English, math and science prior to the start of their senior year. There is a 2.2 GPA requirement in 10 NCAA-approved core courses for Division II schools.

I know Ty'Kieast Crawford just committed to Charlotte but weren’t standardized tests his issue for qualifying?

Why Charlotte? Wasn't there a thread on here few weeks ago saying to lookout for his commitment if he got his grades in order?

They'd still have to meet the University's criteria though, correct?

Tykiest Crawford must be dumb as fricking rocks for still signing with Charlotte. Was his GPA 1.2 or some shite?

Pretty sure he signed before this decision was made public. He kind of got fricked by the timing of it

Very different from a standardized test score.

I don't know the story on Crawford and Charlotte but this waiver was discussed here a week ago. He HAD to know it was in the works. Dumb...Dumb...Dumb.

There’s only a handful of schools in the country that require their athletes to meet university standards to be accepted. We wouldn’t have a football team if they were required to score at 23 and hold a 3.0 coming out of high school

If he did sign, that's just a waste.
