I was under the impression Patterson drug his nuts across LSU.

His high school coach Hank Tierney is probably not the one you want working with him as a passer or with footwork as a passer. He’s been running the option for 30 years.
Hank isn't teaching him that. The OC / QB coach is Trey Willie former SLU QB.
I will add this as grateful as a I am for what Hank has done at Ponchatoula I am disappointed in this entire thing surrounding Finley. Look I get that he is a generational talent all of that. But Hank one of the greatest option high school coaches that Louisiana has ever seen. His offenses have always torched people even when his talent might have been down. Finley transfers to Ponchy from St. Thomas and midway through his 10th grade year Hank junks his double slot offense he has been running since the early 80's. All because Finley has a big arm and cannot run. I think he has done a disservice to the team as a whole. They are not doing what best would put them in a position to win. All it has done is lead to a lot of incomplete passes stopped clocks which exposes a weak OL and weak defense. He changed his whole philosophy for one player.

LSU has 2 QB's committed, I assume, they have who the want.
He has a lot of work to do, most 17 year old's do.

I don’t know how interested King really was in LSU, but I dont think LSU passed on him because they thought he couldn’t play.
I think they had 2 in hand they felt were solid without any drama and decided to stay pat.
I don’t know enough info about the dynamics of the 3 kids, but these decisions often determine a coaches fate down the road.
Imo, the addition of Joe Burrow was the most important recruit/decision/addition of O’s tenure. It was HUGE!

Can’t compare two QBs just on surface level stuff like that. There’s way too many variables that go into whether a guy will be good at the next level. If you want LSU to wait around for perfectly polished QBs that won’t require any development you better get used to the idea of them taking one about every 3 or 4 years and praying he’s interested.
This is just a skills camp. I worry about what any of these young kids will do behind center in a real game. Anthony Jennings and Brandon Harris were decent practice QB's but were lost as a goose in game play. It is what is between the ears that matters most and you never know what this is until you see them play.

Was referring to King
My bad, didn’t mean it directed towards you. I’m referring to the people that apparently think TJ isn’t good enough and Haynes King is going to be us missing on Shea Patterson. A kid that didn’t come here because LSU didn’t kiss his brothers arse, then he went to Ole Miss and preceded to get his arse stomped by LSU then ran to Michigan.

Harris was nervous . He was a deer in the headlights. If he would have played like he did in practice in the games he would've been a great player

Agreed. I love Myles Brennan's heart and character, and I know size has been something holding him back a bit, but I'm disappointed he hasn't turned out to be the quarterback most thought he would be. LSU would have been in trouble with him under center last season.

Do NOT write off Myles Brennan. The arrival of Burrow may be a blessing in disguise for him. It gives him time to bulk up and serve as an understudy.
LSU fans see kids like Trevor Lawrence and Tua light it up as freshmen without realizing that usually it takes a while, particularly at QB, for a player to be ready to play in the SEC.
Burrow in 2019, then Brennan gets first shot in 2020 with Parrish, Finley and Johnson applying pressure. Either he rises to the occasion or one of the guys yet to wear the jersey takes over.

I'm not writing him off. I'm saying the hype coming in was not that of a quarterback that couldn't start until he was a Senior.

Who is the QB coach at LSU?
Posted on 6/30/19 at 1:27 pm to Brunedog
That report was from yesterday. Every qb struggled with something except the #1 DT that’s committed to USC.

What would the elite 11 rate for Phillip Rivers mechanics? I hate how these analytical gurus think every guy has to throw the same to be effective. His footwork is also fine for someone who is 6’7 240 lbs. if you don’t believe me than watch his basketball film. He needs pocket awareness drills, but that will come in college.

He needs to be better in games
That is all that matters
50% completion percentage just isn't going to cut it.

There’s one very important trait that’s being left out here for a QB to succeed at this level

50% completion percentage
There are so many factors that go into completion percentage. It's kind of hard to put much stock in that stat alone, especially at the high school level. What kind of offense do they run? If all they do is their deep balls, then 50% isn't too bad. What's his yards per attempt look like? What about adjusted completion percentage?
