where did the notion that Oliver was slow come from ? Maybe because he had the ankle problem that didnt get better til later in the season. i see where Scouts update has him at 4.8 . not a blaze, but faster than most pro-style qb's

I've seen him play in person and he is definitely not the most agile guy. Once he gets going he has decent speed but he doesn't have the best acceleration and can't really make anyone miss. He is a big guy though so he is sometimes tough for the smaller DBs to bring down.

I think of both Manning brothers, Tom Brady, Kurt Warner,etc... there's a few quarterbacks that dont have any ability to shed a tackle. The film that Scout/Youtube/Junior year shows Oliver running the "spread option" pretty well. There's a couple of times he looked like he "turned it up" to me. I guess we'll check out his Senior year. There seems to be alot of top flight schools looking closely at him. Scout says more offers are coming. I just admire the kids arm. He throws like a Pro

So everyone LSU offers is a heavy lsu lean or and lsu lean. I guess you should only make 25 offers because they are all leans right?

Probably not. Fobbs was an A&M lean after all

yeah I got to add Oliver is definitely faster than 5.0, he is not super fast but fast for a pure pocket passer, he runs at least a 4.8. The guy is definitely capable of avoiding the pressure and can move well for his size

I think it will be a disappointment if the 2011 class doesn't produce atleast 1 NC. The only question is how many get significant playing time as a true frosh.

I need to go find/watch his film again because it has been a little while since I saw it.

His name was in the mix last year as top wideout in the state. That puts him in pretty elite category when you are talking Trovon Reed, Landry, Lewis, and Sylve are all also in state players.

I'll get back to you on it later with more specific information/evaluation.

lynx, don't do anything extra for me. just curious. why wouldn't LSU offer him and if he has to go the prep or jc route, then all the better since he wouldn't take up a precious 2011 schollie? why not offer him?

It is still veryyyy early in the process. Realistically as well....LSU doesn't "sign and place" too many kids.

Lynx, you think you may have Mickey Johnson in the top ten after spring ball?

He could definitely sneak in there. Basing this off potential is also important...I don't think he will go much higher than 10 or so because with his frame, I don't see as high of a ceiling.

He is already strong as an ox and gets off the ball well. He should be able to contribute early in his college career, but it will be interesting to see how he develops.
