I was so baffled by what took place this weekend that I made a phone call to my long time recruiting source. It appears that the Thomas interest in FSU is legit. He won't "decommit" from LSU anytime soon, but he will certainly be adding some visits to see what else is out there.

Brooks is basically gone. He'll be switching to A&M eventually.

Emery informed the staff that he planned to commit this weekend. They were under the impression that he was committing to them, but obviously he did not. He's all about Georgia now.

More tidbits...

Sopsher - Don't expect him at LSU unless his brother comes along with him. The word is that he would consider Bama without his brother though. He's also apparently starting to take a closer look at Georgia.

Lee and Palmer are NOT done deals like previously reported. Especially Lee. O has not made nearly as much progress in Amite as previously reported.

I was also told that if Thomas decommits, expect one and possibly two highly rated recruits currently committed to decommit with him.

I also asked about the mysterious 5 star offensive tackle that could possibly be decommitting and committing to LSU instead. According to my source, it's simply not true. I asked about three different players in particular, and while LSU is still recruiting them hard, each player has showed no signs of budging.

Don't shoot the messenger.

How solid you think the information is? Brooks situation that bad already? But recruiting of course is fluid. This could change on a whim within less than a week.

Here is also another angle. Is this an LSU/Louisiana based source or OOS? That makes a difference on what side they are hearing and if they know all angles or just one.

The recruiting board patrons would drop significantly, along with tax revenues, if this were to take place as you placed here.

What you are painting is pretty much the death to LSU football for the foreseeable future.

It's very fluid and in the hands of the staff. They better step up their game.

The word is Alabama and Georgia are helping each other out on the recruiting front in order to suppress division rivals. It's kind of dirty but very smart. We could very well be seeing Bama vs UGA in the SEC Championship for the next 5+ years. It's a nightmare.

Then they know what the coaches should all know. My first guess was it was OOS. Recruiting is certainly fluid as none of this would have made sense two weeks ago.

Kardell, I think LSU can turn things back to where it is 110% solid. Tangi boys were going to be tough pulls. But I find it odd that we hear of O and company making progress and things looking up for a near term commitments from that area to O has not made enough progress in such a short period of time. Sopsher news does not surprise. His brother is going to have to be a package for LSU apparently and the risks that go with it as far as the brother goes.

Sounds like Emery trolling LSU, if 100% true, in worst way. I can see UGA and Kirby getting down like that (you know where he learned those tricks from LOL!). But it takes two to tango.

Keep in mind his Dad had no issue playing OOS. He also knows how the recruiting game is played since he went through it himself back in the day.

You mean exchanging deals between bag men:). Bama finding handlers for UGA folks with their La. contacts and UGA maybe helping them with contacts in places in FL, SCAR, TN etc. where UGA have deeper ties than Bama. Money talks. Cajun Mafia need to step up.

I’m not looking too much into any information that comes from this board anymore.

Brooks switching to A&M and a done deal is somewhat surprising. A&M pushing him behind the scenes I can see. But would Brooks not want to let the season and time play out? A&M must be putting the full court press. Your source sounds like a connected individual who has influence. If they can see this.....

Then again we have to take this all with healthy dosages of salt. The sources only knows what they hear and see. Other things out there they may not be privy to.

Take it for what it is, just rumors. Nothing in recruiting is set in stone until that LOI is submitted. Long ways to go until December.

Could very well be.

The word around the campfire is for example... A recruit is trying to decide between LSU, Georgia, and Bama, the coaches of Georgia tell him, "We'd love to have you at Georgia, but we mainly want you to be happy with your decision. If you don't come to Georgia, go to Alabama. LSU is not the place for you" and Alabama coaches saying the same for Georgia in return. This recruiting strategy gives each school twice as many voices as the school they're recruiting against. Kirby and Nick have an understanding. They're trying to scratch each other's backs in order to make the road to the SEC Championship game much easier for both of them by using each other's resources and referrals.

I really hope he stays. I hope it's nothing more than him wanting to play the recruiting game and take advantage of some free trips.

These are the two that worry me. LSU needs Sopsher in a bad way this recruiting cycle as there are very few DL that they appear to be in the mix with if they miss.

Losing Kardell to FSU would be a huge blow to the class, but you talk about losing another commit on top of that, catastrophic hit.

Nothing to do but sit back and wait. Opener vs Miami is going to be a big deal for the future of the program, hopefully LSU is ready to light it up.

Could be another 5 for 5 class.
O was billed as a great recruiter.Recruiting is the lifeblood of any top program. if LSU goes 500 or worse and cant finish with a top recruiting class then its time to get O out.

A lower rated class makes it easier to get rid of O. So it’s not all bad.

It’s crazy how quickly things change in recruiting when an opponent hires an elite coach. LSU used to own all of Louisiana the I-10 corridor to mobile, and to the west I-10 to Houston. When Saban came he instantly pushed into Louisiana and now Jimbo is pushing from the west back to Louisiana.

This has been my stance all along. It’s great to be excited about positive things happening but recruiting is so fluid, you never know.
