The Bama machine will eventually implode. I've said it many times. Bama has become a magnet to ego driven mercenary type players who are only out for themselves. They come from all over the country with zero allegiance to the school or it's traditions. It's a house of cards like USC was 15-20 years ago. All it's gonna take is one little crack and the ego maniacal rats will flee. No soul.

They all cheat or you don't stand a chance at landing a top recruit! It's wrong, but that's the reality of recruiting. We're not talking about $500 handshakes, we're talking about cars, jobs and a lot of money sometimes in excess of $50000 for the really elite. It's just the reality of recruiting game today! The NCAA doesn't care because that's their cash cow!

If this isn't a negative recruiting tool idk what is, LSU needs to jump all over the "who knows who your coach will be in a year" angle. It's true though apparently Bama is just a jumping board to the next gig now. Most unstable coaching staff in the country and we need to get on that!!

He would downgrade from OC at Clemson to WR coach at Gumpville
Why the frick would he take a WR job of the team he just skullfricked in the national championship as offensive coordinator?
It's amazing how delusional they can get

I have been convinced for many years that Alabama pushes the envelope more than any other school regarding recruiting irregularities. I have no doubt that Bear Bryant got away with a lot because he was revered almost like a football "god." Football is like a second religion over there and they have a "win at all costs" mentality. And I think Saban is smart and just damn good at getting away with it.

I am very curious as to what happened with the in-depth Yahoo Sports investigation that came out a few years ago, and pretty much confirmed that D.J. Fluker was given special gifts, including money. Seems like I heard recently that the NCAA has not forgotten about it. Let's hope they take a serious look into it.

To be the devils advocate here, but isn't the reason that Smith wants to go to Alabama is Pettito and Burns?
Napier played a bigger role in his recruitment than Burns. This hurts their chances IMO.

I know a lot of universities likely Cheat in some way or fashion
I was friends with a guy that played on A&M's D line from 2014-2015, and he said that their lockers would have bags with a few restaurant gift cards for the weekends so they could get some decent food. He also said when Manziel would take his drug tests, Manziel would wear baseball sliders with that cup pocket in the front, well he would have someone piss in a 5 hour energy bottle for him and stick that in his compression shorts

Think the same about Alabama

ALL, i repeat ALL, big programs absolutely destroy any rules necessary.... money? gifts? women? yeah, all that shite... i've known enough VERY recent players, players that went on the NFL, etc. that told me they absolutely get paid... its just not as much as you may think... but yeah, they get hooked up before and during their playing career...

I also believe the programs like Alabama are under such intense scrutiny from their rivals, think auburn for example, that they have to be extra careful.
their rivals are likely just as dirty.... see, it's not the NCAA doesn't think, or even know, that it's going on... it's that they don't care.... they just don't wanna have to become involved in the disciplining of schools, and won't unless it starts getting egregious... see, as long as historically relevant, big clubs are good or interesting (Bama, Ohio St., etc.), they sorta look the other way and act like they are on top of it, knowing full well shite happens that is ABSOLUTELY out of bounds... but their interest is money... and it just don't bring the same type of cash if a majority, or even a few, of the really big schools (see above) are on probation and can't play for a championship... it comes down to money for the school, as a championship team brings in money, a good collection of teams that are known by more than just the diehards is good for the NCAA because of TV revenue, and as long as everyone is getting paid, everyone looks the other way....

Not saying you're lying, but how in the world would you know this for a fact? I think what you said is correct, but it bothers me when people speak in absolutes when they don't have any inside access.

I am not sure as to the "level" of cheating each school does that would match Bama.
My first cousin is a good friend with a former LSU all American offensive lineman from 5-10 years ago. Anyway he asked him about these things being discussed here at LSU. Said lineman said he didn't know anything about 'payments' but he did say that the really good players got the best summer 'jobs', you know like $18/hr to wash cars at a dealership and such. He said the compliance dept was hell on them. Rules such as they couldn't get certain foods other than at regular meal times because of the protein content. He mentioned peanut butter but that doesn't sound right. Anyway, he did say that during visits the thing that he remembered the most was the number of beautiful women they had showing them around. He said that was frigging off the charts. One of my best friends was a db at a juco and then went to Wyoming for his last two years. He said it absolutely didn't happen there. But then they aren't a power school either I guess.
Anyway, that's all I have on this subject. Have a great day....

I know for a fact as well. It's really not a giant secret.
He's right, every successful program does the same shite.

quote:Correct. The only time they care is when a member of the press can prove it and gets it published. Then the NCAA has no recourse but too investigate and punish.
it's that they don't care.
NCAA revenue for 2011-2012 was 870 million dollars.

Cash cow indeed. Money is tight at the schools and a significant chunk of this money rolls into academic needs.
