I grew up in a low-income household, and both my parents worked until my dad was killed in a car accident when I was 9. Then I was in a low-income family with a single working mother.

I really don't mind that they're chasing the money. Well I mind from my perspective but I totally get it. The problem is you can't run any sport with 100% free agency. The NFL would fall apart if it had that. Every major Pro Sport would. College is going to have to figure it out because nobody's going to give a frick about any of the teams if they basically change half their roster every year

No, it won't. Your average fan don't even follow recruiting. That's our cross to bear.

Your average fan doesn't follow recruiting but your average fan does follow players. There's a reason why there isn't a single Pro Sport in the United States that has 100% free agency. Because it wouldn't take long for people to stop giving a frick.

They teach them that mommy and daddy don't have money, probably for obvious reasons, so you have to make it for us.

Even when talking football you can’t help but let a little passive aggressive hate slip out. Pathetic.

Don't blame me if you agree with letting parents take advantage of their kids.

Because while the players always change, those school colors don't. You aren't a fan of the player. Your fandom doesn't change with the player's team. You're a fan of the school and, by proxy, the player.

Disagree. An alumni of a school connects with a student athlete differently. People follow these kids thru recruiting period, and want /expect to support them during their careers, including the NFL. They are happy for them if they do good after the graduate, and sadden if they don't.

I disconnected myself from CFB, and sadly from following my school. There are fans of CFB that don't want the bad that this kind of money brings with it, and why we don't follow the NFL. Though we enjoyed seeing our fellow alum doing well in the league. Now with them flip flopping everywhere, who knows what school they rep in the NFL.

Nothing will change. You’ll still be watching football 20 years from now just like the rest of us.

We are paying college football coaches 10million a year and ESPN is paying 1.3 billion per year for CFP contract.

The sport is made of money and it is just not kids. It is everyone that ruined an amateur sport.

Fans harassing 18 year old kids. There is a lot wrong with this sport and it sounds hypocritical. I just enjoy my team play and everyone has to do what is right for their family

It's amazing to me that you found enough interest to take the time and effort to post.

I'm not saying that you're full of shite . . .

Oh wait . . . yes I am.

But if they don’t commit then they won’t be able to use LSU as leverage to get a bigger money bag elsewhere so they can flip from LSU.

Meh, 90% of CFB fans don't even pay attention to recruiting.

Do the coaches and their overpriced contracts turn people off? How about paying those streaming services to watch the games? What about the universities that have made billions off the sport and yet still have the gall to ask their fans for $ to pay back the money they owe to the players for making them that money? Do those things not turn you off? So why does the kids getting paid do so? The players were last in the chain to get paid and suddenly they are the bad guys. Plenty of bad guys to put blame on before the players. #1 being, in our particular case, LSU and the folks running it. I'd like to see receipts for the billions they've made the past century. Let an auditor come through and shake all that money out. Talk about turning people off. We'd be disgusted if we knew where that money went and what it was spent on. Welcome to the 2025 version of the United States. Sponsored by a university near you.

It’s already turning people off and I’d like to remind everyone that this is just the beginning. The sport as we knew it and loved it is dead. It’s not the same. Looks the same. Same uniforms. Different culture.
