The Frank Wilson situation...

Could this be LSU's last season with Frank Wilson? Friends of mine who follow recruiting closely feel he will be offered an OC position at the end of this season. How much of an impact will this be on LSU recruiting? Is it vitally critical we do everything we can to keep him with 2014 shaping up to be an historical class? Is it even possible to keep him in the fold? I'll hang up and read.

He's paid better than most OC's, I don't see him leaving

just curious, but what is the correlation between friends who follow recruiting, and the likelyhood of a coach getting a new position somewhere?
I don't see what one would have to do with the other

I would like to know where they get their "recruiting information."

Maybe no direct correlation other than him being LSU's recruiting coordinator and his connections in New Orleans?

I'm pretty sure that Frank will make $600,000 next season. That's really a pretty good living.
If he gives it up to go somewhere else, he'll end up taking a pay cut, because no top BCS school is going to hire him as coordinator, so he'd have to go 2nd-tier school and make less. He'd also be risking everything, because if he fails, he could end up considerably worse off. Look at the high-profile college coordinators who ended up working as high school coaches for peanuts.
Our chances of keeping Frank for a while are very good.

lol no.. we need Frank more than Frank needs us. With his recruiting ties in New Orleans and around Louisiana.. him leaving would be disastrous.

I would think Frank is in it for the long haul possibly parlaying it into a future AD position

I could see him taking an OC job. The guy seems pretty ambitious, though his career isn't exactly on a tremendous upward trajectory.
He's 40 and never ascended beyond a positional coach.
Most guys that are on a trajectory to be head coaches seem to progress a little faster than Frank has.
So either he's really content being a RB coach/Recruiting guy and just doesn't want to move up any more.
OR people don't identify him as having a skillset that would translate to that type of thing.
Seeing as how organized and personable is, he seems like he could be a future HC to me. Maybe even at LSU.

This.
I've always gotten the impression that he loves being at LSU no matter the job. And anyone thinking frank leaving wouldn't be bad should quit posting

The only way for Frank Wilson to position himself to one day be the HC at LSU, if that is his goal, is to move on somewhere else.
I really think he has all the attributes to be a highly successful head coach at LSU. Similar to Les, his strong points would be program management, building relationships, and recruiting, not necessarily X's and O's. He is learning the trade under Miles. But at some point he'll have to show he can do it at a small program like Larry Porter failed to do. Hope it isn't for a couple years and when it does happen Juluke will be ready to fill his shoes.

with all due respect to Frank who has done a great job for LSU. LSU did get guys out of New Orleans before he arrived. There are also other guys with NO ties. Maybe some one like Juluke (sp) former coach at Karr that took at job with La Tech.
If he wants to advance, he may need to take an OC position. If that is the case I'd wish him well and for concerns about this year's class, I wouldn't think it would affect much if he did move on after this season since it would be so late in the game.
