Some Texas insiders are starting to set the tone of getting Simmons, McKinley and Mack.

The Skinny: It’s decision week for Simmons, who will come off the board on Thursday afternoon (August 10) to one of three finalists: LSU, Texas or Miami. But in reality, this is a race that is boiling down to the Longhorns and the Tigers. Those two programs have been the most consistent throughout his recruitment and are the only two with major buzz at different points this summer. Texas made a big impression on his official visit in June, and then LSU swung some momentum back its way the last weekend in July when he returned to Baton Rouge. This is a true tossup heading into one of the biggest commitment announcements of the cycle.

The Skinny: Pulling top prospects out of Louisiana and away from the home-state Tigers is a daunting proposition, but Steve Sarkisian and his staff have made massive in-roads in The Boot (see Arch Manning and Derek Williams). LSU was considered to be the leader for much of the past year with McKinley, who burst onto the national scene as a junior. But behind the scenes, Texas has been building a lot of momentum, as had Oklahoma. According to On3 national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman, the in-state Tigers are likely running third right now with a decision expected from McKinley before his senior season begins on Sept. 1.

I don't believe texas got the juice like that to land all of them...I lived in Austin and it's a great city but I honestly don't know what Sarkisian is pitching to these guys besides a bag of $ cause Texas hasn't done anything to garner these many top prospects

We melting hard if that happens

Call Gordon and get it done.

Ok. And they will still go 7-5 at best because Texas is a festering bowl of dog snot that will never amount to anything.

My question is did we fumble on McKinley or did he just have aspirations to go oos?
Meaning, because he burst onto the scene late, did we not show him the love he felt he deserved sooner? Or have we been consistent the whole way through and the young man just wants to play somewhere else.

I guess the staff thought early maybe he was more a lock?
He's a silent kid and I guess my feeling is why did he takes those OOS June visits and not go to LSU until the Splash? Seems pretty telling doesn't it?
I think there's going to be a lot of twists and turns this month before he signs

Have to land one of them. Losing both would be a shame

I’ve seen at least one poster here (from Lafayette) who’s previously indicated that McKinley wants to leave the state. Maybe similar situation to Sedrick Van Pran?

McKinley is close one also. I wouldn’t say we are catching up.

Dedicating all the attention to Simmons and coming up empty would be a huge fail. Losing Mack and McKinley to the same team would be the ultimate shite sandwich.

He's already got 8/10 of LA committed which is better than his predecessor with a great chance to land the #4 overall player in the country from Texas. I think they're doing alright.
