Let me remind you Nick Saban is the best recruiter in college football. Than prob Urban Meyer, than the head man at Michigan. IMO

I would be more concerned with SEC foes then Texas even if we do play them. LSU can do nothing about Texas recruiting besides us getting the few prospects we do get from there. Nothing will change in that regard. LSU just needs to keep at it. Fill our depth needs with great prospects and we'll be fine. I mean you can't ask for much more than top 5 classes until O starts killing it on the field. Once we start winning games hopefully the big ones like bama you will see a huge turn in our recruiting on a national scale. I've already seen a huge change in recruiting front seven prospects. We get the best DBs. Once the season kicks off and these recruits see our offense, you will likely see a huge turnaround on offense. Until then we get the best we can get, then try to develop them into big time football players. It's way too early period.

The latest Rivals ranking (June 6 2018) has Texas 5th and LSU 4th... with identical average star ranking of 3.5... yes LSU has more recruits... Last year Texas ended up 31st with avg star ranking of 3.3 while LSU was 8th with the third highest star ranking of 3.75.. 2016 LSU finished 5th and Texas 11th (3.54 avg Star for both)... 2015 LSU finished 8th and Texas 12th (LSU 3.44 Texas 3.48 Avg. Star)... 2014 LSU 2nd and Texas 20th (LSU 3.72 Texas 3.17 Avg. Star). The 3.75 Avg Star last year with a coaching change was impressive.. of course there was more consistency with most of the staff staying on, but still only the best Miles years stack up to that... I have no doubt that both Texas and LSU will finish in the top 10, especially since both can sign extra players this year. I certainly do not think Herman is BETTER than Coach O at recruiting... Who is better at game management and Xs and Os will play out over a couple of years...

Those players we signed were not mentioning Les Miles name they were all mentioning Orgeron and the great job he did when Miles left.

So these kids have all signed their Letters? Impressive.

Ohhhh boy, that doesn't bode well in the Big 12.

Texas is soft as shite and I don't see Herman changing that mentality any time soon. Kids dont go there to play big boy football any more. Its about frickin bi5ches and being a star.

and your qb play is putrid. So what. When this team VASTLY improves, what are you going to say then?

What makes you so sure they will vastly improve? UH was good before Herman took over. He has never had to turn a program around.

A head coach should only know his team well enough to pick the style he wants to play then pick the guy he thinks can implement that style best. He should also be able to manage the team, including recruiting and be the face of the program. So far O has done a superb job in all these areas. No one in America has a better defensive coordinator than Aranda. We will find out soon enough if he picked the best man to implement the style of offense which fits LSU best and whether or not we improve on special teams. If the head coach thinks he knows more than his coordinators that can actually get in the way of a successful season or program.

I think people were wrong about Orgeron, he knows the LSU program very well and has a great feel for what is needed for this specific program to be successful over time. He's very much respected around the country and he's brought some great assistants in to help develop our players while recruit. He's loading up on defense at the moment and when this offense starts to show what it can do the offensive recruits will start to show up as well. Including big time QBs! Guys love to play for this coach. He wants to elevate this program to dominate our opponents not just beat them.

Lol, Texas qb play has been garbage (probably worse than LSU's) for about 5 years now. Time and culture have passed Texas by.

Holy shite, I looked it up.

Tyrone Swoopes was 8 spots better than Anthony fricking Jennings, and that was the ONLY time in the last 5 years that UT had a higher QBR than LSU.

Several Lsu commits will get bumps. Still early with a lot of evals & a season to play. I like where we are in recruiting. We must fill the T position. That's the key. We will get the RB's and Wr's. Have u looked at our young roster? Once fall
Camp starts the lber, dline, and secondary will have 5* talent everywhere. There is serious elite young talent on this team. Oline is the only thing I worry about

Hey chicken little, how do you feel now that LSU has repassed up Penn State with Justin Fields decommiting. It's early in recruiting baw calm down.

LSU also has a great shot to land this same QB who just decommitted from Penn State. It is indeed way too early. We could easily land 3 5* guys. This QB, Surtain, and Marshal. This thing is hardly over. The season will bring more attention to LSU. If we have a great offense but lose a few games with that great offense we will still land the guys we want. If our offense is decent but we win in spite of the offense we will likely still land the guys we want. The key is either win or look good as a team if we lose. Sometimes you just lose a game or two no matter how good you played.

No matter what I'm excited to finally have an offense that will try to take advantage of a defense's weakness instead of this cookie cutter offense we've had with Les Miles. No matter who we played we were going to do the same things every week. I think that's going to change.

He probably doesn't feel any different. Seems like he just uses any and all opportunities to voice his disapproval of the head coaching hire.

Thats not fully correct.

Herman has reeled in, (but not yet signed) two of LSU's former commitments in Justin Watkins and Caden Sterns. However, Justin has been all over the place - LSU, FSU, and now Texas, and we are young and deep so Safety is not a huge need (Sterns), so neither is a huge concern. It does prove your statement, like the OP, a bit of a reach.

The OP has over stepped, but Herman's recruiting is gaining steam. Let's hope he does well enough to pull talent away from Texas A&M and perhaps Oklahoma, but stays away from competing with our recruiting hotbeds in Texas.

Ohio State has been a pain in the arse this cycle. They have 3 players committed that we were likely second for - teradja mitchell(if he ever visited), max wray(huge position of need IMO), and andrew chatfield(have enough pass rusher specialist IMO)

We, along with several other powerhouses, kicked Herman's arse last class.

Herman did not have a full year's worth of recruiting to work with. He was hired at the end of November, so he had a little over two months to be judged on. On the other hand, Coach O maintained continuity and did not have to reset the board. One of the main rationals given for the hire was exactly for that purpose, to maintain an already stellar recruiting class.

That said, it's June, and way early to worry about the final product to even compare (which with recruiting doesnt accurately happen until 3 or 4 years later when projections become production). This cycle's defensive side is almost complete and its amazing. My focus is the offensive side of the ball. I look most forward to Grimes securing two, preferably three great OT prospects, Robinson securing two top notch RB's, and Joseph securing 2 or 3 more upper echelon WR prospects.

After that, its gravy.
