I really didn't want Turner to leave. I was hoping he would get back to his Freshman form.
I honestly think almost everything should revolve around getting Victor to come to LSU. From a scholarship/recruiting stand point anyway.

we'd have quite a few juniors. not sure how that meshes with how johnny wants to space everything out.

Lot's of recruiting between now and when Victor will sign. Including the 2012 class, which is not completed, he is 3 classes away. I would considered Martin, Jones, etc., more important than him at this point, since we will need some good momentum and positive vibe going on to penetrate New Orleans.

The LSU program does not revolve around signing a kid two years from now. It's much more important for us to sign Martin for next year at this point.

I kind of agree, but it appears that Victor will be the biggest player to come out of La since Greg Monroe. Not "a must sign" guy, but a "you really really really need to sign guy".
Mostly, I was addressing S' statement about having a bunch of Jr's on the Roster. That would set up nicely for Victor, and Martin, I would think.

Who ever thought we would be talking about Pat Swilling's son for our basketball team and Karl Malone's son for our football team?

I don't have any inside information on the issue, but I will be surprised if LSU does not add Swilling now that Turner is gone.
It seems that LSU has been stringing him along waiting on Turner to make a decision.
The rumors of Turner leaving, coincided with the rumors of Swilling committing. My guess is that LSU gave him a conditional offer if a guard transferred.
There is still a chance that Stringer could leave and/or Isaac could fail out. I hope neither of those things happen.

Losing Stringer would be a big blow right now. We need some kind of veteran presence on this team, not to mention he's the only thing we have as far as backup PG goes.

Yeah, I like Stringer a lot. He's hot and cold, but you're going to get that with a lot of shooters.
As far as Swilling, I thought the same thing as soon as I heard Turner was transfering. That still gives us a lot of wing guys though. We still need some bigs.

Definitely need some bigs, but with Turner gone, adding Swilling would just be trading a junior wing for a junior wing. We would be in the same position for scholarships.

I would rather Jones invite him to walk on, and he gets a scholarship as available. Much better recruits next year than Swilling, dont want him taking up a spot

Stringer greatly improved defensively last year. Far from great and certainly lacks size, but out of Turner and Stringer, Stringer started to defend and Turner never did.
Further, with an up-tempo game, Stringer is a better fit than Turner.

We will have unused scholarships for this year for sure. Put him on scholarship and tell him he may have to pay his on way as a senior. Big Patrick can afford it.

I think even if we sign Swilling, we will still have 3 available.
Ludwig will be a Senior, and JOB may go pro so you could easily have 5 schollies available for 2012-2013.

you have one too many accounted for. Turner leaving makes 3 free. Signing Swilling would leave 2. Ludwig makes it 3 and any attrition would be added on.

Do you think we are done for the year? Assuming no more attrition, that leaves us with 10 scholarship players for the year, 1 less than last season.

I really don't know. I'd rather be done with guards (unless Swilling agrees his is year to year or he walks on) than sign anyone that is on our radar but if somehow Odoh or Pollard are still in play you don't tell either guy no...

I hope we're not done. I was still hoping for someone to play the low post--does this mean O'Bryant plays the 5?

We can't be done. Teams will simply take the ball into the paint until they get our two bigs in foul trouble, and then they get to keep going inside against Ludwig and Courtney.
Especially if we run, we don't have nearly the depth we need.
