State of DL + DL recruiting

Want to start off by saying Thanos or no Thanos, Bo has done a hell of a job this cycle.
For as much talk as this board has about needing impact freshman or transfers on the DL, looking at the current roster + development of those guys, I’m actually now in the camp of we don’t need someone that’s going to start Day 1 (even though that would be great).
DL is physically a challenging position to start as a freshman so I expect Zion, Brandon Brown and Buddy Mathis to take some lumps early on…. But think they’ll challenge Demyrion Johnson and Shone Washington as 3’s.
Our 4 deep with Suggs, Dom, Breaux and Guillory is really solid, and if we get a breakout star out of the rest, that’s lagniappe.
With a big time 2026 class in-state next cycle, the future is really bright for Bo and the guys up front.

I like what I've seen of Breaux, Reliford, Mckinney and the DL in general. I think it will be a strength With Bo Davis, and People's coaching them guys up along with portal guys and new recruits.

The D staff was phenomenal this year. We had much less talent on D this year than last Sad it took BK 2 yrs to figure D staff out but it is what it is. D was very average bit given talent level I think they overperformwd. This D with last years O would have been more than good enough for a title

I agree. Literally one more solid DT in the portal would turn this into a very strong unit.

I will answer it for him. If you don’t sign Stewart and you lost La Jesse, than you will need 2 D lineman from the portal. I would also say most of your D-line is a freshman and Sophomores, so some experienced mercenaries would be nice to help Guillory lead.

We will need to hold on to Suggs and get 1 dominant DT in the portal.

That’s a damn strong DT lineup. Use the extra money to grab a big time DE to go with

compared to the other elite teams, we need one superstar type from the portal though.
Either way this group will be ok, but to be considered elite, we need one elite player in that rotation.

What Bo did this year with what he was given cannot be appreciated enough.
The entire defensive staff did an absolutely incredible job given the circumstances.

Then you have Dom as the guy who can get to the QB (#2 in sacks at LSU despite being a rotational DT 5.5) and you have an envious starting unit. We definitely need another SDE. We need somebody to rotate with Reliford.

Idk how long it’s been but i agree . Last two years we have had devastating injuries up front . We have been run over by a few teams depth is always great . We need guys challenging other guys anyways . Geez that was hard to understand i guess
