He didn't run a 4.7 40. As another poster noted, it is a cone drill.
That 4.7 is from a straight line race at the NFL experience. It may or may not be 40 yards, but it wasn't a cone drill.

Fastest guy at the event. All you need to know right there. Slow surface or w/e, comparing him to other guys he's still the fastest. Legit sub-4.5 guy.

Yeah it is 40 yards. LINK

Probably didn't try that hard?

I walked on that surface they ran on and it was pretty shitty and would seem to be slow.

I didn't go to this year's NFL experience, but this event in the past had a big mat you jumped on to at the end instead of running through the finish like a typical timed 40. I'm sure that causes a guy to pull up a little at the end.

Fastest times and won two tickets to the super bowl

I actually was in charge of this event at the NFL Fan Experience last week. I had no clue Speedy ran, but I did have one of my other managers tell me a kid from Karr ran a decent time. And I must say the times were total crap though. They had a deal where whoever ran the fastest time of the day got a $100 Under Armour gift card and if anybody could beat Torrie Smith's 4.43, they would get a $1,000 gift card. Former LSU track guy Gerald Green (ran a 10.65 back in his glory days) is still in great shape for his age and ran in attempt to beat the 4.43. He even clocked a 4.7 something and I watched him eat up the track. So if Speedy ran a 4.7, it had to have been much faster, probably 4.4-4.5. All the times were bull crap because the guy announcing the event would start the clock right after he said go. In every legit combine I have attended and seen they start the clock on the runners first movement, not when the man with a microphone says go. So don't but into the 4.7, it really was faster.

These kids claiming 4.3 and 4.4 forty yard times are full of BS. Inflated hand held times. Take a look at NFL combine times and you realize these high school kids are exaggerating.

EXACTLY!
If there really were as many 4.4 guys in HS as are claimed in recruiting, then one could reasonably expect that at the NFL combine, 4.2 would be downright common.
Well, unless you believe it to be typical that people max out their athletic prowess at age 17. Funny, when's the last time you saw a 17 year old male in the Olympic 100? Answer: NEVER
Think about it people.
