The only reason I doubt that Saban sends these kids on sabotage missions is because I can't believe Saban actually trusts these kids at all. Would you really trust the word of Sophser that he's going to sign with Bama and tell him to wait until signing day to actually commit so that you can use him to hurt other programs?

Can you REALLY be that confident that he's actually going to sign with you? If it were me I wouldn't trust these kids anymore than they should be trusting me, which probably isn't much.

The likely scenario is that the kids want to commit early and Saban tells them, "we really want you to commit now too. In fact we are leaving a spot open in our recruiting roster just for you. You are a very highly sought out candidate. I don't normally say this to most recruits but only for a few very highly ranked recruits like yourself. At this time I going to ask that you not commit at the moment and save it for NSD. I'm going to ask that you and your family do your own due diligence and visit and explore other teams as much as possible. You only get to do this once so by not committing now you can explore other colleges and get the full experience. An experience that only a few recruits a year have the privilege of enjoying. I don't want to minimize that positive experience for you. If you do your own due diligence and still come to the conclusion that bama is for you it is better for both bama and you and it starts the relationship on a good and healthy first step."

Or something to that effect.

Then the highly ranked recruit takes Saban recommendation and everyone on the outside sees it as Saban is sending out recruits to sabotage other teams.

That may be Saban's purpose but I don't believe that is the way the recruit see it.

Don't worry. We just heard from several folks that the whole town of Amite is bought and paid for by Bama and no coach could possibly sway an Amite recruit away from Bama.

If O can't even do it why would you expect someone like Fisher to do it?

Do you really believe Saban sits around plotting and planning around other programs? He doesn't play ridiculous games like that. They go out and recruit and use wwhatever assets they can get away with but he doesn't concern himslef with "sticking" it to other teams.

Yes. They specifically hire guys from areas to take recruits from rival schools. Of course coaches want to take recruits from teams they play to make them weaker. Negative recruiting is a thing.

Many times kids don't commit until Feb. because they want the attention. Some did it in Feb. because they actually like the recruiting process and some do it in feb. so they can delay the home town backlash of not going to the state school.
Does Saban play the recruiting game, sure he does but no more or less than any other coach in the SEC.. Does he send other recruits on offical visits to watch other recruits sure he does, does send them to ruin other players recruiting visit,s very very doubtful...
Lets be hoenest most schools are already locked in to twenty recruits who they know who are coming, its last four to seven guys you get that make you crazy on signing day. For bama, we want Neal,Sanders,Ish,dean,Carter,Battle, webb, and a Edge rusher. Will we get all those guys doubtful unless we lose a few commits or we have some greyshirts or blueshirts. I look for Christan Williams to drop bama and commit to lsu
and Tanner bowles to either greyshirt or move on to another school and our FG kicker commit to blueshirt to give us room for three more LOI's to hand out...Should be a great end of recruiting for bama and LSU.. I am a member of almost every bama paid site and I think it is 50/50 we Ish or not.. We have a guy on our support staff that big time ties in the Amite area, I can't remember his name..

He hasn't given LSU the time of day and he goes to school on our campus...so you don't know what you are talking about.

Right now, he is cocky enough to believe that he can get away with it. And based on his 8 game streak vs us, not to mention his championships, kids will buy into it.
