It's not his ear you need to get into. It's his bank account.

His Mama in his ear about getting to the league and getting his payday going. The staff did all they could to get him to come back. Ain't happening.

there's no way he wouldn't make more than 3rd round money at LSU
Man lmfao you people have your calibration WAY off when it comes to nil money. The 75th pick in the draft will make ~$1.8m in their first year in the nfl. You are out of your fricking GOURD if you think wingo would make more than that sticking around

Has he hired an agent?
with NIL, some kids already have agents in high school.

Who was this player? Are all bonuses created by draft spot? Or is it different depending on the team and player and what they decide to pay for a particular player?
It’s set based on draft position. It’s been that way since the latest CBA (or maybe the one before that, not 100% sure). Other terms of the contract can be negotiable but overall salary/signing bonus is not.

I think a more accurate number would be average contract total of a last pick of the third round over the last 5 drafts.
If anything this would undervalue the contract, as generally the contract values increase each year.
Other factors that these players have to consider when making the decision:
- By coming back, you likely sacrifice a year of late-career earnings. That doesn’t mean they lose a year of peak earnings since older players often fall off in value, but it still has to be considered.
- You’re delaying the second contract by a year. This is a huge factor as the second contract where most players (at least most who make it to a second contract) make peak money.
NIL should certainly factor into that decision as well nowadays, and it probably shifts the threshold to some extent. Not sure it’s enough for a guy like Wingo though.

Saturday while doing some chores I happen to turn on Morning Scone. People were asking about raising money for NIL. He said Auburn and Ole Miss have thousands of fans who donate 10-20 bucks a month to the program.
LSU has 300......
There needs to be better promotion and organization between the Bayou Traditions and TAF. I would have thought that at sports games when LSU is kicking tail have a text geaux tigers to some phone number and you'd be hit up for 5 or 10 bucks. If you get half of a packed Tiger Stadium to do it you'll raise around half a million. I could see Girls BBall crowds and Gymnastics crowds willing to do the same.
