If the girl from Hammond, J Moon, was playing at Mt. Carmel, everyone would be raving about her. Kid has played both this year and when on, Moon is prob better than Shelby....Shelby more consistently

Tidwell from St. Amant will be 1st to play. She could play on any college team in country now.

I've said this about a couple of LA high school players the last two or three years and one wasn't seriously recruited or offered and the other one never got a shot to play. Both very, very good, high level players. LSU has a very different philosophy on freshman, especially LA freshman.

I am excited about Tidwell, her bat is phenomenal.

The three best hitters to come out of LA the last couple of years are all on rosters other than LSU. Tidwell is talented and athletic but in my humble opinion not as talented as those three.

It's hard for a freshman to come in and play at LSU. Many times the returners are given the nod simply because they are the returners. It's hard for me to see Tidwell get immediate time but I hope I am wrong and she is a Freshman All American.

Tidwell will play simply because she can barrel up on the ball....something that is sorely missing this year.

Most players on roster barreled up a ball in hs and travel ball and look at them now. I don't think its that simple but I hope she kills it for LSU

It’s our archaic hitting philosophy

Huge Moon fan, and no, shes not better than Shelby. Great kid, Nichols is getting a great player. The girl from Holden is probably the best pitcher in the state.

Olivia Lackie?

I know LSU is/was recruiting her. She is 2020 I think. LSU already has a top pitcher out of Cali committed for that class I' m not sure if LSU is taking another one.

Thats her. Coached against both, Lackie is on another level.

Quite interesting to me that she chose South Alabama over LSU. Would love to know how that played out exactly.

I am not 100% sure maybe LSU was only taking one pitcher that class. Smith from Cali is a phenomenal talent

Wickersham has the tools but one she reaches LSU some of the stuff will be fine tuned.

Am I the only one concerned about Taylor Edwards from La Salle? She was recruited to be a pitcher for us and she is really really having major difficulties. She was phenomenal a few years back but has not been the same the last 2 years

Raelin Chaffin is a name people will know really well soon, she is off the charts talented. She is having a really nice freshman year. I think she plays for Airline? I saw her play the other day she really impressed. I think she also plays for impact gold for travel ball

Also have you seen Tidwell play this season?

I have not. Always raved about her athleticism, questioned her ability to play the game. Heard she hit a moon shot in her first AB back from injury or something earlier this season, I coach a couple of her travel ball teammates but we are in another district.

Guess that's what recruiting that many years in advance gets you. So much can change once these girls hit HS. Also, I hate the way they put so much stock in travel and showcases and absolutely on input from HS coaches.

have you coached against Victoria Abrams?

I feel like she is under rated, really athletic

It is what it is unfortunately, we have to play like that if not we miss on the top prospects.

Have not, unfortunately he haven't made it out of district, even when we have made the playoffs, we have played district teams.

Not complaining about LSU doing it, I understand that. Just hate the state of the sport as a whole. Most travel ball programs are a joke unless you're playing at an elite level, and then those kids miss a lot of fundamentals that HS coaches simply don't have the time to address.

We play teams all over the northshore, and a few Nola teams this year. Happy to say we don't have to play Mt Carmel this season, too

We have three girls signed and their college coaches have not communicated to our coaching staff in any way. Thats insane to me, and I've only been in the HS coaching ranks a few years.

We have played all 3 so far this year. Lackey has a ways to go to catch other 2...but in same breath 2 years behind Jordan and Shelby.

yea we played all three last year, still think Lackie is the best. Watched Moon strike out 19 vs French Settlement at the Sumner tourney, too. She does it all for HHMS, hit a bomb that game I think

Edwards was recruited as a pitcher because she was insane in 7th grade.. but she just doesn’t care about softball and gets rocked consistently now
