Seems like UHIGH has been doing some elite recruiting lately. Taking all the kids that used to go to RHS and Catholic. I was going to go checkout a UHIGH game with all the prospects they have since it's 5 minutes from my house but I deff won't be attending and 8th grade game.

U High's 2013 recruiting class is already being rated higher than Vandy and Ole Miss.

Yep. Inferior football at an inferior school is winning these kids over, but I guess "exposure" is what it's all about.

A kid can get 300 carries over his high school career playing at U High against the likes of East Bunkie and South St. Mary's and be a good player in a gimmicky system, or he can go to Catholic and learn how to play big boy ball against big boy competition and maybe only play as a junior/senior, making them more prepared for the competition at the next level.
But I guess people don't think they can stand out in 5A as much as they can in 2A

you assume everyone of these kids had the option and means to attend CHS. Is that a fact, or are you just whining?

This screams butt hurt.
As books pointed out, not every kid can go to Catholic.
And the 2A vs 5A thing really seems to be hurting Curtis and Evangel.
I'll leave out my thoughts on the coaches.

What is the difference between UHigh and Catholic? Both require multiple thousands of dollars per year to attend.
I know for a fact Moses had the option to attend CHS, but U High has a seventh grade and admitted him this year

He's in 8th grade, which something both Catholic and UHigh have. So apparently Catholic's recruiting efforts just weren't strong enough. Or he likes the coaches at UHigh more. Or he actually wants to make the playoffs. Who knows why he didn't choose Catholic, but you don't need to be so butthurt about it.

quote:you tell me. I'm not familiar w/ their respective tuition costs, but a even one grand may be significant to some parents. Some kids may not have been able to get into CHS for other reasons. You assume a lot by thinking kids don't want to play 5A bc they're at UHigh. On the football side, while not playing the same competition, Mahaffey has been impressive in his short stint so far as HC; CHS hasn't done shite in awhile.

UHIGH is the new big boy on the block! I see them winning a state championship soon. It's on LSU's campus and kids have a direct path and access to the program I see why kids would go there. Plus Catholic and RHS don't have the coaches they used too and Parkview doesn't recruit the same kids those schools would.

Will U-High have the depth of talent needed to overcome Curtis and Evangel in 2A?
I mean, it's one thing to have a stud here and there. A Tim Williams and a typical 2A defense, or slightly above average 2A defense, besides him. Or Brossette behind Brumfield and otherwise a typical, to a bit above average 2A team around them on offense.
But Curtis and Evangel have across-the-board above-average talent, like good 4A and 5A schools.
Is U-High there yet? Up to this point, there has been a clear chasm between where Curtis and Evangel are and where U-High is.
I just hate that it's come to this. I miss the days when 2A football was about schools like Springhill, Jonesboro-Hodge, Winnfield, Iota, etc. Now, these schools have no chance. None.

And yeah, playing in 2A will never get you to the league. Ask Big Baby or the Temples. Or maybe Michael Clayton?

No, UHIGH and Coach Chad Mahaffay already has an ALL AMERICAN RUNNING BACK, Nick BROUSETTE, what 5A school in Louisiana do you know of that can say the same?

Not to mention all the 1A/2A/3A kids you have playing for LSU. The only difference you generally see is in the size of the OL/DL and depth between the big and small classifications.
