Helpful? Yes. The ultimate factor? No. Has there been any indication that Harbaugh was his reason for potentially going to Michigan? Not to mention the NCAA is a feckless organization that has no real power anymore

Lmao

Good point. The head coach and former NFL QB likely isn’t a big reason for a QB recruit choosing that school.

You can’t convince me Saban didn’t have LSU’s signals the last couple years of Miles.

Any 4th grader who watched the last season or two of LSU's offense under Les knew the plays without having to use "stolen" signals.

Love what Les brought us, just like O, but in the end they both needed to go and overstayed their welcome by at least a year.

Edited for clarification

If you don’t think the head coach leaving drastically impacts a recruit I don’t know what to tell you. It’s more than “helpful”.
especially when that HC was also a QB In the NFL for many years.

On eof the most common incorrect statements on this board. Back then I use to challenge people who said this to tell before every play what the play was. LSU used to run 75 plays per game and only about 12 were toss dives. It was our bread and butter play, no doubt, but you could not tell when it was coming.

LSU’s offense was not multiple enough; that’s a fact. But to say you could predict the plays is just a gross exaggeration, proved by the fact that none of those saying this would ever accept my challenge.

I don't doubt that you couldn't predict exactly what any one play would be. That said...

There was a cadence to the overall offensive flow for the last few years under Les. His "2 feet and a cloud of dust" mentality was at full tilt until the day he was shown the door.

Teams could generally count on LSU playing (or trying to play) hard-nosed bully ball with the run, and more often than not they were right and stuffed the play.

It doesn't matter if you could or couldn't tell exactly what any one play would be. You could count on Les to trend towards short runs and throws, and avoid deep shots until they were behind the sticks. That was plainly obvious to everyone.

For me, the final straw was the Wisconsin game at Lambeau. All spring, summer and fall we'd been told that Les had learned how to actually have a dynamic offense that prioritized the pass and was less predictable. When our team came out and played the same, tired offensive schemes that had all of Tiger nation pissed off I knew he wasn't going to change. It was only a matter of time after that before he was let go.

And, frankly, you can lay that squarely at Les' feet. O, for all his faults, took the team Les left behind and completely changed the complexion of our offense and we absolutely smoked Mizzou in his first game. And win or lose, our offense looked completely different for the rest of the season.

It wasn't the players under Les, it was the scheme and how they were used.

Don't get me wrong: I don't hate Les, and appreciate everything he did for our program. But when he refused to change with the times and update our offense, it was time for him to go.
