No problem.

I hope Franklin can qualify.

With the needs we have at RB and disappointing recruiting there last year, I would rather not sign Curry and Slade and "call it a day". A national top talent RB could step in and start and I don't know why we aren't attracting more attention from that group.

Look at the backs who are/were interested in LSU

Valentine - speed guy only
Joiner - think Jalen Hurd, or more like a WR/TE
Franklin - academic issues and he's okay, but doesn't stand out at all.
Carter - meh
Julien - meh

Crazy just how bad people are writing off Brossette and Edwards-Helaire, along with the possibility of Ducre. Brossette would be a top 10 back at the very least in this 2018 class, which I think is full of average backs and -200lb role players. Helaire runs like MJD and has that great receiving ability too.

Where I really think we screwed up is letting Etienne get away from us last year. One of O's big mistakes down the road, the other was briefly scaring the QB recruits. That guy would have likely been the #3 back this year and the starter in 18'. Very underrated.

The 2018 season will not be the year for a true freshman back to step in at LSU outside of Lingard who is going to Miami, maybe White who is going to UGA. That will be from the 2019 class for the 2019 season. LSU could get 2 and possibly 3 backs who should finish in the top 15 at their position in 2019 so why are we so in a rush to get 80 mediocre backs now?

At worst Curry is a Spencer Ware type bulldozer and Bolden is dynamic and can make plays in various ways for us. That's 2 along with senior Brossette, RSFr Edwards-Helaire, and RSSo Fournette.

Brossette has fumbling problems.

Is the kid scared of a little competition?

Really want Bolden in this class. I'd take Bolden and Curry and call it a day. I still believe this kid can play RB in the SEC. I think he could play an H-back role for us and be a return man.

I like him more than Provens as an APB and slot. Don't get the Provens commitment to be honest. Also, I'd be ok with Bolden and Curry in '18 too. While it's not always smart to rely on future classes, we really should get Davis and Emery next year. Jimmy had an article yesterday that said sources feel like Emery is a LSU lean.

The only way I'd take 3 rb's is if Cook wanted in or maybe if we flipped Keontay Ingram. I'm not a fan of Joiner's film or the kid from North Carolina Devon Lawrence.

You need those gritty receivers that can get the tough yards and move the chains. Maybe Bolden can be that guy. Landry was that guy. I thought Diarse was going to be, but it just didn't work out.

... or Darrell Williams. I expect a very good year out of him.

Beside the point of your post, just felt the need to comment on that.

And you didn't directly say it, but I agree that they should be chasing Bolden much harder all things considered, including what's available and committed this year.

I'm not sure I'd count Bolden in the RB group as he's more of a receiver here imo. I think Brosette can be our lead back for '18 but after that we have to hit a homerun in 2019. I like the other rb's on our roster but I don't know if they're workhorses like Hill, Fournette, and Guice.

What is an LSU RB under Canada though? Will it require the big bruisers or will it be Marshall Faulk types? This is a definite plot line I'm very interested in watching play out this year.

Good point. Wouldn't be surprised if guys like Bolden spend time in both meeting rooms.

You obviously haven't watched Bolden play.

my humble opinion.

You will never take the bruiser RB out of LSU. We will always have a big bruiser type. There's just too much RB talent in LA to let go of that in our offense.
