Slade Bolden Update per SECcountry

Per Sam Spiegelman... LINK
Bolden might commit sometime in July and it's between TCU, LSU, and Alabama. Funny that Alabama is in the mix because I really hadn't heard them mentioned too much since they offered him. I thought it was pretty much a TCU/LSU battle.
Also, apparently he was close to committing (presumably to LSU) at our camp, but backed off. I have to assume he backed off because 3 other backs committed at that camp, so he needed to reevaluate.

The Louisiana native admitted he was nearing a decision after visiting LSU and spending time with offensive coordinator Matt Canada and wide receivers coach Mickey Joseph, but opted to hold off and take a few more visits. Still, he is looking to check off a few more boxes before giving a commitment.

I tried to post this in one of the numerous threads that already exist about Bolden, but for some reason it's anchored.

If Bolden commits to Bama JJ will never live it down

I don't think it really matters how many true RB's commit to LSU. Slade Bolden will be a super star in Canada's offense. The guy is a RB/WR/FB in one.
That shite is right up Matt Canada's alley. Imagine him and even just a decent RB lined up in the LSU backfield. What is the defense gonna do? Get fooled of course. Have a WR come across and fake the sweep, hand off to Slade or not, throw to Slade or not, pitch to Slade or not. Defense already F'd. If that dude comes to LSU it will be ugly for the other teams.

You may wanna let Canada know this then. Because someone very close to the situation says Canada is not making Slade feel like a priority. Canada is blowing his recruitment fwiw

Try a RB/WR/FB/QB In one. This kid is a huge LSU fan from a young age. The 3 backs at one camp scared him sadly. Hopefully he comes home where he belongs. He is a superstar and will shine bright in purple and gold!

He barely weighs 200 lbs, how is he a FB?
The kid does a lot of things really well and is a great athlete. Let's not label him things just because he looks a certain way.

Because Trindon Holiday could play DE

Really want Bolden in this class. I'd take Bolden and Curry and call it a day. I still believe this kid can play RB in the SEC. I think he could play an H-back role for us and be a return man.

Dabol was Patriots' WR coach for years, 5 rings. If anyone knows how to use a white slot, it's that guy.
That was a joke...

He was only the WR coach from 2002-2006 that's not years, as meaning a lot. He may know how to use WR, but is he a good OC who utilizes his playmakers.

Looking at his resume, doesn't seem like he's been successful in the past as OC. Looks like he had the LSU QB play of the NFL, not a lot of help.

With the needs we have at RB and disappointing recruiting there last year, I would rather not sign Curry and Slade and "call it a day".
A national top talent RB could step in and start and I don't know why we aren't attracting more attention from that group.

I disagree with you. Slade and Curry is where we should have been in the first place. Not a big fan of tae personally.

Agree and disagree. I also don't like the "call it a day" mentality, but, for this year, I don't really see any of the top national recruits showing much interest. I mean, I think we'll get back on Joiner, but there's no guarantee even if he does come here, that he'll stick at running back.
I think, for this year, we are going to just have to make do with the guys who are available.
Is there a specific national recruit that you're interested in? Cook is really the only other one I'm aware of and I'm pretty sure that ship has sailed already.

Um what about terrace Marshall and Patrick Surtain Jr.? You know, two FIVE star prospects who are lsu heavy leads.
Posted on 7/9/17 at 1:13 pm to Tiger nation 929
Bruh, we're talking about running backs. You know Marshall is a wide receiver and Surtain is a cornerback, right?

My bad, I made a mistake with what you were talking about, I thought you were talking about the class as a whole. I have a feeling that the best running back we end up getting would be Fabian Franklin, if he qualifies.
