he throws the ball better at this stage than Mauck, Jefferson and Perriloux
Gotta jump on the bandwagon...what?

Jefferson and Perriloux came on campus with nfl arm strength.

Did you see the blocking by the oline? They had defenders in the backfield on every play it was terrible.
I am not saying he going to be Vince Young yet but I do know the guy is a leader and has great athletic ability.

I think the kid gets every OPPORTUNITY to play QB. From watching one High School All Star Game and to say you don't see him being a QB is shortsighted. Now you may be right in the end but its only a guess. You have no idea what will happen once he gets on campus. The kid has spent a lot of time at QB, goes to QB camps in Cali, the kid wants to play and from what I have read about him he wont give that up easily. He is not a drop back QB, he is a multiple threat QB, that is PERFECT to run a spread offense. His arm strength is fine for that. I dont know why people are so worried about weather or not he will be a QB. Let it play out and just be happy that a kid with his attitude, leadership and athletic ability wants to come to LSU and give this will he or wont he be QB a rest. ONLY TIME and THE COACHES choice will tell.

All he was using to throw the ball was his arm. If he improves his footwork and starts to use more of his body to propel the ball, I can't see why he wouldn't be expected to play QB especially when you combine that with his athletic ability.

I said this before the game. The announcer said it during the game.

I, for one, would like to know a little bit about his hands. Has he proven that he can go after the ball, run routes and has hands of glue?
We all know he can damn sure run the ball, so if he's not playing QB, he's not an RB, he's not built to be a tight end... then it's wide out for him. Has he shown ability or played the position?

Works great.
Don't think it was Miles who wanted a change his hand was forced! That is all I am going to say.

Yeah, stick to that.

Shepard is a great athlete. sometimes that transfers to a great college qb. Yes like Vince Young. If the tigers have the patience for shepard he might make it. but do they have the patience. HELL NO THEY DONT

J.Jefferson may end up being the best thing for Sheppard.
JJ should allow RS a chance to come in and play spot duty initially.
One huge thing for RS is that he's coming in Jan. That will really help.
As to him being a QB, he can be a great college QB. Being a great college QB and being an NFL QB are completely different. It's totally how a coach uses a QB.

what has Pat White won at WVU?

Two BCS bowls and four bowl games. At a program that hadn't reached near that level of success previously. He got knocked out of the Pitt game. And if he hadn't been their QB, they never would have made it that far.
There is a large value in a mobile QB. Maybe not in the NFL, but definitely in college.

I know people don't like hearing this, but IMHO Shep should get a redshirt. He has an unlimited amount of talent running the ball, but there are some things he needs to work on with a QB coach so he can become a great passer. On the other hand, he is coming in the spring so he will over half a year to work on it. In the end, the coachs will decide if he is ready or not, not I. I just worry he will be put into the thick of things before he is ready. It seems to me that, if he wants to be a Qb, it is only fair to him to redshirt him. Even Perrilloux, with all the talent in the world, was redshirted.

First off PW playes in the worst BCS conference in college football and the big east does not deserve and automatic bid. pat white's teams ran the ball at least 70% of the time making hime more of a running back than a passer. you have to ask yourself who wwould you rather have... jamarcus russell or pat white.
I think in JJ you have both. a rocket arm and great feet. I think RS if he wants to be a QB at lsu should red shirt mostly because he is not as developed a passer as JJ is and I cannot see him as a ever down QB (at least not next year)
RS has had a passing coach (jeff blake) for over a year now and there has been a lot of improvement in his mechanics but i dont know how much better he will be when he gets to LSU

Shepard will be starting by game 4.

willing to place a friendly wager on that.
you can do it u know...there are online sites.
but anyways, when people talk about RS they need to differentiate between what they want/whats best for the program and what is best for RS/draft status. He knows what his abilities are. He knows he'll probably have a better draft status as a WR than as a dual threat qb. but if he wants to play qb, that is his choice.
And dual threat qb's not being successful in the nfl is not necessarily a reason for a player to shy away from that status in college. I dont see how you can argue against the success of VY at texas or mike vick at tech. He can play qb in college and make the transition to wr in the nfl. he'll still be a high enough draft pick, regardless, so if that is what he wants to do, its his choice.
