Coach O obviously realizes his no1 need with the handful of scholarships left in 2021 is the Oline. With a top 5 class already signed up, this could be what puts LSU back in the playoffs.

I just don't understand how we didn't have e back up plans after Leigh. It seems he and Dillinger were it.

Now we'll have to look at the portal and transfers

I pray for the day we can consistently land 5* Olinemen

As a LSU fan I feel your pain, it hurts to see our QB’s slammed so often.

We usually land 1 per class. We need to be landing at least 2 or 3 4 stars per class to take a step up from where we are, and then search for a promising 3* or two for depth or occasional portal guy with 2-4 years to play.

I just don't understand how y'all can just assume because a kid didn't announce and/or sign when YOU want him to that we're out of the picture (or in some cases that we "stopped recruiting them").

Cherry on top: the hissy fits on this board based on those same assumptions.

Two 4 stars per class at a minimum, hopefully a few 5 stars.

How many 5-star offensive linemen do you think there are every year? There are only around 5 per year (6 this year).

Alabama signed 2. Ohio State signed 1, Wisconsin signed 1, Georgia signed 1, and we are in the running for 1 and landed Dellinger who was a 5-star early in his recruitment by some.

Wow. First of all, Leigh’s recruitment isn’t done. Second of all, there are backup plans.

how do you go an entire recruiting cycle almost after winning the national championship and best oline award and only have one guy committed in late december

it’s not like there a lot of talent looking lsus way besides Leigh.

que the trust the coaches, film looks great, hester was a 2 star, diamond in the rough, etc replies

That’s the $7,000,000 question that only Orgeron can answer.

LSU needs to revamp its recruiting strategy and make OL/DL the top priority. If you look at Alabama, they clearly put a tremendous amount of time and effort to ensure they get the best OL/DL every year. Alabama wins because it wins in the trenches which takes a tremendous amount of pressure off the rest of the players.

On defense, when you have elite lineman at every position, it is much easier to stop the run and the pass rush forces the QB to get rid of the ball faster, which leads to more incompletions and more turnovers.

On offense, many of Alabama RBs don't get touched until they are 5-10 yards down field and that's because of the talent level of OL they recruit.

LSU will continue to struggle on both sides of the ball until it begins to make recruiting OL/DL a top priority year in and year out.
