Tigers battling Miami , Oregon and Florida. Experts say today they’d pick LSU. However we know with NIL and the contenders it will be a tough pull.

Got a feeling this going down to sign day with him. Hope we get him for 2025 class.

Whether or not LSU can bring in Pickett will tell us if Corey Raymond is truly back to his true form IMO

Will revenue sharing level out the NIL advantages?

That’s some shite I’ll need to read into

Not from what I have read. NIL will continue to exist.
Let's say every team has to pay 20 million to all sports. A wealthy team like Texas could supplement the initial payout with an additional 10 million in NIL funds.
My big concern is the talk of the reduced rosters in football. IMO, this will prompt the rich teams to stockpile talent with NIL funding.

I am optimistic but it seems like we will not be one of the highest bidders so that could mean we are out.

I believe it will. Even the wealthiest of schools have donors that will eventually grow tired of forking out money every year for college kids to play ball. Those wealthy people are wealthy for a reason and don’t spend money foolishly. Once the boosters see that the kids are being compensated by the tv revenue, I see many of them pulling back and funneling their donations back to the school and athletic department. This may actually push things into the NIL space that it was originally intended for with business marketing, social media, autographs etc.

Bottom Line, we better pay if we want the studs year in and year out!! Are else they will go elsewhere for the $

Agree many boosters will stop spending so much. Less to do with foolish spending, more with political idealism in the short term. "Old" money is not on the side of the liberal agenda most of their proud universities cater to. Ask the Ivy League schools losing massive donors currently. But never discount men with enormous amounts of expendable money, enormous egos and lots of time on their hands. The lengths in which they will go for "pride" or "one upping" their friends or adversaries is incredible.
Think the revenue sharing helps due to contracts. That's all legal, very taxable money. Schools are gonna want guarantees on that money.
Title ix is the bugaboo. If it factors at all, revenue sharing is just a glossy way of doing nothing while appearing to. 20 mil is gonna be the average payroll of major programs. None left to disperse to those that didn't generate it. Rightfully so. If your sport is at a negative cost(woman or man), therefore no revenue to "share", sorry. But in America "deserve" or "earned" never apply in such cases. Bargained charity is the American way. Look where it's gotten us.

I love your optimism, but I fear it's misplaced

I think you're looking at it wrong. Boosters were donating money senselessly long before NIL ever happened. That's the point. You're also looking at it wrong in that they're getting nothing out of it.
LSU boosters for example, get contracts that make them money. Like for example, with the university. Anyone who follows Louisiana politics should know how it works by now.
You're also not looking at the fact every school will want an advantage. If it was all equalized from media money then nobody has an advantage. That's not going to fly for the university or the boosters so they're just going to keep doing what they're doing. That's how they get an edge over other SEC schools.
What it will do is solidify SEC as the most powerful conference and it will cannibalize all but maybe one other one as a super conference. It's not going to work like you think it will though. The rich will continue to get richer as they say.

Another 5 star that LSU will be the favorite then will commit elsewhere

I fully expect Title IX lawsuits to pop up.

May be dumb question but is NIL contribution a company makes a tax deductible expense?
Also is there any limit to total NIL contribution etc. or could a super billionaire alumnus pay like 50 million
to team(s)

To maybe get this thread back on track, LSU has shown that it will put in the highest bid if they think the player is worth the money, ie Underwood.
Do you think any player is going to receive more money than the #1 Player in the country who is also a QB ?
We need top flight secondary talent. If our coaches deem Pickett to be worth the investment, they absolutely will pull the trigger.

I cant help but notice that all of the predictions regarding Pickett and LSU come with the massive caveat that we'd be the choice today. Seems to indicate an expectation that things will change between now and signing day - which, if true, renders the entire statement pointless.
I may just be remembering the negatives better than the positives, but I swear it feels like any time you see a statement that we'd be the choice today, we wind up not being the choice when it matters.
