It seems the SEC has decided to not recruit Texas as heavily this year. 0U hasn't either. What gives? I know we don't produce the defensive talent the deep South does but we are still known for QBs, OL, and RB's.

Alabama is after Kennedy Estelle, Donald Hopkins, and Dalton Santos. Of course UA is less likely to recruit in Texas than LSU or Arkansas. However, the Cowboys Classic in 2012 against Michigan may help.

Forgot about Dalton Santos. He's very likely to go Bama. A&M fans would love to get him. We only have about 3 spots open. He's one of only a handful of players that have a committable offer from us right now

Kennedy Estelle seems to be solid to UTa. Somebody needs to tell him that Searels isn't the best OL coach around

Outside of the big 3 (Matt Davis, Trey, Bralon), who have been considered to be involved with Lyles (whether they have or have not remains to be seen, also doesn't help that Davis is coming off a major injury), there actually isn't as much talent in Texas as compared to other years.

Mario Edwards was the huge get, but everyone knew he was heading to Florida State because of daddy. Jonathan Gray is there too but he was a UT lock from the beginning with a slight chance to TCU

ATM is taking all the players that would have gone to the SEC, lol. Seriously, LSU is trying to get more involved in the Houston area with Coach Mac now on board. He is already building relationships with 2013 recruits.

UTa got a WR named Cayleb Jones that is a stud. He's from Austin though so wouldve been hard to wrangle away.

Dom Wheeler is a stud but has off the field issues apparently and UTa and A&M quit recruiting. He later committed to Tx Tech.

Malcolm Brown is a very good DT from Brenham that chose UTa over A&M.

Those are the studs off the top of my head but there's still a lot more talent in the state. I don't consider it a down year for talent at all.

Also, I have no idea if any other Tx kids were ever linked to Lyles besides Trey W and Matt D. It has been rumored that Texas bought Jon Gray's family a house as early as after his 8th grade year that costs about $250,000. Again, rumored. There's no actual fire that I'm aware of. Just smoke

I personally love one of our recruits named Trent Momon. 6'5 receiver from Hempstead. Not quite as fast as Tolliver but there's been lots of comparisons although he's only a 3 star as of now (if that matters at all). He's one of those players the HS coaches are raving about but the recruiting services aren't. A lot like Johnny Manziel last year

Momon was ramped up a little bit on here awhile ago, but has been non-existent in any talks for awhile. I think the board got excited about JaQuay Williams (who I think is far from done with his recruitment) and now Dwayne Benjamin.

He is 6'3" 245 JACK LB if I have ever seen one. Bama may end up signing 6 LBs in this class

Who outside of LSU and Arky recruited TX hard?

Hard? Nobody. But nearly all the schools recruit Texas every year to som extent.

Outside of the SEC Oregon, USCw, Michigan and Pitt of the top of my head recruit Tx hard or previously did besides other small schools and Big XII schools. Look around the nation at QBs currently and over the past ten years. Some pretty big names. Drew Brees, Matt Stafford (IIRC), Mallett, Snead, Chase Daniel, Cam went to JuCo in Tx and the list goes on but I'm drawing a blank for more.

Don't know but I wish LSU would make a impact hire with someone who can give us a few bluechips from Texas again. I think we're going to start noticing not picking up Texas recruits in a few years if this trend continues. Texas should be almost as high a priority to LSU as Louisiana. We should be making the most impact in Texas of all the SEC schools...

The point of a signing class is to fill needs. With five LBs leaving, it would be wise to replace them all.
