Of course they're going to say that immediately after his visit.

In the end, we have Corey Raymond - and that will make the difference.

Better question is when does Alabama insiders NOT think they lead for a top recruit?

Every year right before signing day it's "We gettin Errbody ya'll"!

A recruit put on a Bama jersey during an Official Visit?

Oh he's a lock now....

I like where Bama offers another CB immediately after Surtain leaves on Sunday. Then proceeds to say it is no big deal, that they are still in the lead for Surtain.

We need this guy. Top CB's to go along with our D next year will make this defense elite again.

That's a confusing article. In the same paragraph he says he believes Alabama leads for Campbell and Surtain but that he believes they don't want to play with each other and believes Campbell will end up going to Georgia or Miami.. I mean if I was a Bama fan it would be hard not to believe we were getting anyone we wanted but it just isn't the case with Surtain. He wants to be at LSU. Playing in front of family every game is just too special to pass up.

And with Tolliver and Jackson declaring for the draft he can come here and play right away.

YES. LSU will finally have a quality group of linebackers and an improved defensive line, with depth, to add to the consistently excellent DB play.
How/why did Miles ignore linebackers for so long?
Great coaching combined with exceptional talent will make the defense ELITE again.

The second source told me that he, too, believes Alabama is the team to beat for both recruits, but he believes the cornerbacks don’t want to play together in college as they did in high school. He believes Campbell is ultimately going to do his own thing and end up signing with Georgia or Miami.

So Bama leads for both of them BUT they aren't going to play together in college and Campbell is going to sign with Georgia or Miami...But Bama leads for both...What?

In all fairness and I hate to say that regarding anything Bama, but we have a tendency of doing the same thing with socks and gloves.

If we lose Surtain, that's a huge indictment on our staff.

He's been all-LSU for years. Corey Raymond is basically his mentor.

And damnit, we need to add some elite talent to this average class. This is a critical commit.

Sooo Beck, Debo, Kwon, Devin White, KIKI (hybrid), Thompson, Voories and whomever is leaving this year.these are all Miles. Plus he ran a 4-3. All NFL stars.then we missed on the 5 Star from the Midwest. It was the misses that hurt.
Playing Welter was the issue.

Y’all are fricking stupid.

It is an average class relative to what LSU has been pulling in. It is not bad by any means, but we don’t have any elite talent game-changer types on board yet IMO, besides Marshall. Surtain is a top 15 draft pick kind of talent and will be an absolute shut down corner for 3 years wherever he goes.

That’s all I meant. Don’t be so sensitive.

Yeah Miles had some great LBs. We just over-played Welter and that is all anyone remembers.

Perry Riley, Sheppard, Minter, etc. to add to your list.

The “leads for” comment is so dumb. Usually after a visit, unless the visit just sucked, the recruit is riding a high and says “____” is leading for my services. Then they go home and think about it some more, talk with family and usually go back to their original line of thinking and pick their gut feeling.

It’s happened both in LSU’s favor and not.

That is total fricking bullshite!

The reality as long as Saban is at Bama if you go there you are basically playing for championships "SEC & Naty" every year. That can't be said about any other program just about. If you are an elite competitor that is what you strive for, so that is a HUGE factor to these kids and understandably so. What will stop that is LSU winning and we haven't done that in a while.

So the indictment is more on with all the talent we continuously field at LSU why aren't we competing for more championships. There is the indictment, not on the recruiting side.
