Scotlandville will face Montverde Academy out of FL tonight at 7 PM CST. If the name Montverde sounds familiar, it is because they have become a national basketball powerhouse as of late and is also the alumni of former top 3 NBA Draft picks D'Angelo Russell, Ben Simmons, and RJ Barrett.

Montverde may be fielding their most talented team yet this season, as they have 3 McDonald's All Americans on their roster, including the nation's #2 player: 6'7 PG Cade Cunningham (Committed to Oklahoma St). Some have argued that this current Montverde team is the greatest HS Basketball team of all time. LINK

Scotlandville is also ranked in the top 25 in the country and features several future D1 players. They are led by top 50 recruit and UVA commit Reece Beekman. One player LSU fans may want to pay attention to is 6'3 SG TaiReon Joseph. Joseph doesnt receive as much acclaim as Beekman, but he has arguably been just as important this season. He was named to the all tournament team at the City of Palms Classic, a tournament which featured the nation's best HS teams (including Montverde), in December. LINK

I will try to find a stream for this exciting matchup if anyone is interested in watching.

Side note - Scotlandville plays Walker in 2 weeks. Jalen Cook and Reece Beekman square off.

Cook lit up Beekman/Scotlandville last year for 38 points, Beekman was fairly shut down by Cook to the tune of 17 points on 22 or 23 shots. Was an awesome showing by the LSU Signee

His brother is on staff there. It’s a joke that he’s ranked #2 he’s the clear #1 player in class of 2020. Was best player by far in EYBL circuit (one of best ever) and was the best player for Team USA U19 team that won gold. He’s a special talent and will be the #1 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.

The greatest team of all time is hyperbole. Their have been teams from Dematha, Oak Hill, St Anthony's(Jersey City/Bob Hurley) and that school in Nevada that had teams with more talent than this Montverde team. They are very good though.

LeBron's Sr year St Vincent team was a tough out as well and they traveled the country beating everyone like the major academies do. They smashed a loaded Oak Hill on ESPN. 1 team loaded with D1 prospects across the board and the other just happened to have LeBron plus a couple of future lower level college kids.

Family member got hired on staff about 3 weeks before his commitment

Very cool that his brother just happened to get an opportunity at a school where he was being recruited

I’m sure they would’ve hired his brother anyway though

No shame in that loss. Playing the #1 team in the country. One of the best all-time. Carlos Sample always overachieves with his teams and this year is no different.

I guess you call that shutting him down, but #33 for Bossier held Mr. Beekman to 4 points all free throws in the showdown in the lake tournament earlier this year. He finished with 10 total points, the other 6 coming when #33 was on the bench.
