The way kids are recruiting these days, until they sign LOI I don't get to excited. It is a good sign though that we have a legitimate shot at him

Nothing I've read leads me to believe he's coming here.

Here's Sam's update on the weekend

LINK

quote:

K’Lavon Chaisson, 4-star DE/OLB Chaisson was hosted by Arden Key, which should come as no surprise given the fact that the 4-star Houston product is a near clone of LSU’s leading sack artist.

Prior to the visit, sources close to Chaisson told SEC Country that he favored Texas over LSU 60-40.

There is reason to believe that the Tigers have tipped things in their favor.

One source believes Chaisson will wind up at LSU after the visit. He made the trip from Houston to Baton Rouge along with his mother, who is emphasizing academics in his college decision. Chaisson aspires to major in petroleum engineering.

Edge rusher is a primary need in LSU’s 2017 recruiting class, and Chaisson sits squarely atop of the coaching staff’s big board. Sources on the ground in Baton Rouge were convinced Chaisson is now favoring LSU ahead of Texas, with an official visit to Austin scheduled for this weekend.

Chaisson's tweet on the home page is very promising. He clearly had an outstanding visit. It gives more credence to the recent CB flip by Speigelman.

Crystal balls are as meaningful in determining outcomes as consulting actual crystals.

I've had a feeling for the past month about this kid coming here for. I think we get: Jacob Phillips, Willie Gay, Racey McMath, K'Lavon, Big Marv, and probably Phi Mathis

Devonta would be cherry on top. I've never been certain on Etienne.

I hope 2018 is focused on OT's.

Yes. He is. Dude, basically has every guy that we have a chance with Cb'd to LSU.

Matter of fact, there's only one kid that he didn't cb to LSU, and that's Ealy to OU.

Chaisson has his official visit to Texas this week. I'd bet his CBs go 100% Texas afterwards

True - but LSU has an actual hands on program. I live in CA and it is the differnce between UC Davis and Fresno State - UC teaches theory State actually makes wine. Was discussing this with some winemakers and this was important in making new grad hiring decisions. Hopefully they showed him the PERTT lab when Chaisson was here (see below).

PERTT LAB

The Petroleum Engineering Research & Technology Transfer, or PERTT, Laboratory - also commonly referred to as the "Well Facility" - is an industrial-scale facility with full-scale equipment and instrumentation for conducting training and research related to borehole technology.

LSU is the only university in North America where future petroleum engineers can get hands-on training in well control by working at a full-scale well control research and training facility.

"We believe it's a really important and unique resource that we have here at LSU. We're the only school in the United States that offers and requires hands-on training in well control and understanding hydrostatics and pressure control in wells using actual wells." - John Rogers Smith, Associate Professor of Petroleum Engineering

"Being from Ohio, I wanted to pick a school that was surrounded by the petroleum industry", said LSU petroleum engineering student Candice Miller. "I chose LSU because the industry recruits heavily from LSU and because we are the only school that has a full functioning well facility."
