The skinny on Sam Leavitt

6’2. 210 runs a 4.65 40
3.61 GPA
Mormon faith
Did a 2 year missionary
All the interviews I’ve seen of him- he seemed like a confident guy but not arrogant - quick on his feet while answering questions - smiles a lot.
Talked about about being a leader and good teammate
I found zero off the field issues - not sure where those rumors came from
His primary reason for leaving ASU is development and supporting cast…
He has 2 years left
In my opinion- If not for his injury he would be the top prospect in the portal by all analysts
ESPN has him ranked #3
O3 and 247 have him #1
Listening to experts who do the rankings , they say the reason they have Sam over Sorsby is his competitive nature.
- character and competitiveness were the reasons why he was picked #1 QB and player in portal over Sorsby- with athleticism being about equal.

The off field stuff primarily centers around his brother who also happens to be his agent.
There are nightmare hanger-on dads (Rashada, et al) involved with their sons’ recruitment and then there’s Leavitt’s brother who is a first rate scum bag and might be the worst of them all.

In my quick search all I could find was his bro denying a Pete Nakos report about entering the portal. Yet he was actively seeking offers from other schools at the time. Yes the bro does seem like a headache but also a protective older brother.

The injury may make the QB2 spot more attractive.

How many here have watched his tape? I know yall like sorsby but when this kid is healthy he’s more dynamic. He is the better player. He also has 2 years left. Watch what he can do. I like sorsby as a player too but if I’m watching them both and choosing, it’s Leavitt every time. Everything will come together in due time.

Also graded as one of the best QBs under pressure at #8
He's a better prospect than Sorsby if not for injury. Should've beat Texas in playoffs. Handed Texas Tech their only regular season loss on a foot injury that got progressively worse. His line got destroyed in this game. Made some bad decisions alongside NFL level throws. He's a gamer.
He was on a heisman campaign this year but got hurt in game 2. Tried to play through it half the season. Stats dipped. ASU also didn't surround him with enough talent as promised. Their NIL sucks outside 1 NFL level WR. Can't believe the level of disrespect this board gives him.

I don’t think it is disrespect as much as wanting a QB that can go through spring practice and fall camp and be heathy for the season starting with the Clemson game.

Obviously it doesn’t work that way. As with most of this stuff, lots of 2nd and 3rd hand stuff flying around/.
All I can say is that I have a good friend in the law/sports agency field who is familiar with the NIL sides of things and that’s where my info comes from. Could be nothing and maybe Leavitt is a great kid and will excel despite his brother but he has scared off some teams bc of his agency group.
