Ruston has two standout DEs
Geordan Guidry (6-2, 235, JR)
Hudl Junior Year
Guidry’s dad was an edge rusher at Grambling.
Ahmad Breaux (6-3, 245, JR)
TE last year but he is a definite big time DE with the heart to match his size.

They will be a tandem to spend your money to see.

Both of them definitely passed the eye test tonight. WM is not very good right now to say the least, but the Ruston defense looks pretty nasty as a whole.

Ruston will make a run this year imo, very talented team and looks well coached.

Guidry played LB and came off the edge at Da G. As a matter of fact the dad was the #3 Lb coming out of high school that year out of Lake Charles and signed with Nebraska. Those 2 coming off the edge with the young stud at LB will give Ruston a stout front 7.

The crazy part… all 3 are juniors!! If the coaching allows the offense to unwind, they could be dangerous and with a beast sophomore qb that stands 6’3/6’4 with a rocket arm….

Ruston is building something that could be around for a while. They have a legit coaching staff, and it seems they have solved the issue of their best players transferring elsewhere.

side note but I was always told the 1990 Ruston team might be the best LA team ever

Word is WM’s current freshmen class is the best class they’ve had in 10 years. Look for several of them to start getting reps at end of the season. They actually play at Ruston tonight, local folks should check it out.

And I do repeat, S long as the coaching doesn’t get in the way….they could end up contending for a championship at the end of the season. Talent has never been a problem and not that many kids have transferred over the past several years, only 1 notable transfer and that’s Lee.

I agree, they look really good. And I’ve heard great things about Kyle Williams’ impact there, what a huge addition he’s been!

Let’s not forget Coach Kenny Wright. He’s had a huge impact on the kids in general and his cornerbacks are coached extremely well.

I wonder what Jack Hunts been up to these days. They both played at Ruston together. Remember back in 1999 they played Acadiana in the quarterfinals and Jack Hunt scored on a kickoff return, a punt return, and had a receiving td. Dude was legit. Williams was a sophomore but was already dominant.

I remember when jack hunt had the last second winning td against Kentucky ??. I was screaming so loud when dervey Henderson scored, my kids heard me way down the street.

Jack works for his dad and the family business, HGA. He spends a lot of time between Baton Rouge and Ruston.

Ruston has put together a very good staff. Coach Kyle Williams, Coach Kenny Wright, and Coach Broderick Fobbs have been great additions to the staff.

Ruston has been knocking on the door for the last few years. Looking forward to seeing if this is the year they finally kick it down.

West Monroe fans say this every year. Just wait till that freshman class gets older. Then some of them will transfer, some of them will quit and play baseball, and some of them just don’t progress. Ruston has the players and coaches to be an elite program for a long time. West Monroe simply does not have the coaches like they used to.

I'm just glad that LSU has a coach that realizes HS football is played in NELA. Tired of seeing these local guys go to bama. If BK can lock down the south and the north then LSU will be in the hunt every year.

96-97 we ran up and down the field on them with Arnez Battle... they were big, but they couldnt hang with us.

Is George Guidry Geordan's dad?
Josh Brantley is the sophomore QB. He's listed at 6-5, 200 on their roster.
Jadon Mayfield is a dude at LB, and so is sophomore Zheric Hill. Ruston's current sophomore class went undefeated as freshmen last season. They are very talented.
Brantley will have to wait his turn. Jaden Osborne is a three-year starter at QB and had 166 yards passing against West Monroe Saturday.

Incorrect
They split 2 games against WM. They actually broke WM freshman winning streak. I believe that WM hadn’t lost a freshman game in like 15 years? Some kind of crazy streak.
