Has anyone heard of this kid? I casually read crescentcitysports.com which is a great site for Prep Sports and what not.
He tore all three ligaments in his knee in 2017 as a freshman on the football team as a Tight End. The kid started on Rummel Football as a freshman at Tight End. He has a huge build similar to cade beloso. Would've been a starter in 2017 for the baseball team that made it to the state semifinals as a freshman but had to sit out due to the injury.
Sits out entire 2018 year for sports altogether recovering and gives up football for obvious reasons.
It's 2019, he's a junior, still one of the biggest kids i've seen in quite some time.
He's 4-0 on the mound with a 0.47 ERA and when he doesn't pitch he's behind the plate.
Kid pitched a one hitter, struck out 16 last night against Parkview Baptist winning 8-0.
Worth watching how he does this season? What yall think?
Here's the link where I got all this info: LINK /

He has always been a very big kid. Looked like a monster for 10 year old baseball

How can anyone give an accurate evaluation without watching him play? That link doesn't have highlights and I couldn't find any except him having his lateral blocking behind the plate evaluated. A write up and stats and statistics don't tell me what kind of competition he is facing, how well he moves, if he makes smart decisions, people need to see him not just read about him.

If you read the original post their isn’t much tape on him considering he sat out the past two seasons due to serious injury!
He had and still does have potential. Big word, potential. I simply asked if we should pay attention to him throughout the season.

Joshy, I agree the kids stats are off the charts although it is really early in the season. But hopefully someone talks to his parents and tells them that if they think their kid will be a pitcher in college "stats look good enough for that to happen, wonder what his velo is" then I would not have him behind the plate ever again. Speaking from tons of experience, that is the worst position for a pitcher to play if they aren't pitching. All your power in pitching comes from your legs, and the part of the body that playing catcher affects the most is your legs. Hope the parents understand what they are doing. If the kid isn't going to be a pitcher then it doesn't matter, but if they are counting on him pitching in college be smart have your kid play another position!!!!

10 4. My bad. Stats are good, very good. Worth the watch. Hope he can stay injury free.

Watched him dominate Parkview on Thursday night. Didn't have a gun, but he easily threw in 86-88 mph range. FB was jumping late. Overpowered everybody. Threw 100 fastballs and 5 curve balls. Didn't have to go off speed much, but CB was sharp. Watched him workout at showcases last fall and I know colleges are looking at him as a catcher. Parkview came back and swept a DH on Saturday from Rummel by scores of 19-8 and 8-4 so they can swing it, Dennies just dominated them on Thursday.

Dennie’s hit two long opo homeruns in the dbl header loss. Heck of a prospect

Yup. Thought the same thing. Had a 7-0 lead after five innings....should have pulled him. Threw 34 pitches in the last two innings. As a parent...would have pissed me off.

105 pitches is not alarming when you are striking out 16 frickin people in 7 innings

Just pitched a complete game vs #1 catholic br to send Rummel to the d1 state championship game.
Had a no-hitter through 5 and a third. 117 pitches. 4 strikeouts, 3 walks.
Kid is going to be special.

The thing that jumps out to me is that with his injury, and the lengths he went to for his recovery, is that they stick him behind the damn plate.

Which wouldn’t be a bad idea to stick him behind the plate.
Whenever he isn’t pitching he’s behind the plate and he’s a hell of a hitter. Doesn’t have the stats like other high school prospects cause this is his first season truly playing ball due to his injury two years ago playing football.

He played a good bit on varsity his freshman year (pitched too). Actually took the starting catching job during the season, and then blew his knee out the following football season

That won't work at college level. I also question PB's bats if he shut them out with that many fastballs. Are you sure about those numbers? No change-ups?
