Ron Cooper and Clowney

From what i remember, Ron Cooper was the DB's coach at South Carolina. I wonder what type of insider status he might have in being able to get Clowney to be a Tiger. I think it would be a long shot to get him, but i can only imagine cooper having some good roots in recruiting ties down there. Anyone else know about this possibility?

His position coach I played ball with in collage, he is all SC or "South Cacalackin".

HAVE to get him for a visit to have any chance with him, and the only possibility of a visit is the weekend of February 12th.
From what I've come across, it's been a combo of Brick, Cooper, Sam Montgomery, and Freak at the UA game recruiting Clowney. One thing that may become interesting is if we do in fact reel in Rasco and Jernigan. Miles gets a new pitch in showing Clowney he could come be a part of one of the best d-line classes possibly ever
Still think he's all USCe though.

I think we had a better chance of getting Sean Payton to take the vacant OC position a few weeks ago, than we do of getting a Clowney LOI.

About as much chance as Alabama hiring Rumph away from Clemson, who was recruiting him there. Which is none. He's going to USCe.

So what you are saying is we have a Chance!

LSU is a hat on the table.
We have big Sam and Mingo.

We're not even that. I really wish all this Clowney to LSU nonsense would stop. HE'S NOT COMING HERE.

But he should!!! (That's the whole rant!)

You guys never give up on this--Clowney needs to first visit LSU, before there is any chance to sign him--that hasn't & almost certainly won't happen. He would be a great player to add to this already outstanding class, but it is not going to happen. I would love to be proven wrong about this, but we have to be realistic.

I got a feeling he will visit (after Signing Day comes and goes), and then he will say stuff that gets our hopes up (like Bryce Brown did), only to have our short-lived dreams come crashing down.

Glad though Bryce went elsewhere...

Cooper was the DB coach at USCe. Don't know what ties he still has here in SC. Clowney is considered a USCe lean because a). his mother doesn't want him to leave SC, b). He won a SC state championship two years ago with current USCe players Stephon Gilmore (CB) and Devonte Holloman (SS) C). His current teammate at South Pointe HS and fellow defensive lineman Gerald Dixon has already committed to Carolina. I met Clowney while we was on his official visit at the USC/Alabama game, he will be a monster when he grows into his frame. Being an LSU man, I wish he was seriously considering the Tigers, but if not, hopefully he will stay out of the SEC West, which I think is likely.
