Rivals.com reporting Maurice Williams switching from LSU to Houston

"I want to express my sincere appreciation for the time and effort that the LSU coaching staff and admissions team have spent recruiting me," Williams said in a note that he posted on Twitter. "I have the upmost respect for the university and the program, but I have come to the conclusion that it is in my best interest to stay home and play at the University of Houston."
Williams had been committed to LSU for just over a year, announcing his pledge last June. He initially chose Brian Kelly and the Tigers over several national offers, including Auburn, Michigan, Oregon, and Texas A&M. Rivals breaks down the commitment.

Not aligned. Seriously. Best of luck to him. This staff has a standard about things and if you don’t fit it then you can move on. He made his choice and best of luck

I guess Ed Oliver got in his head

There's only 3 possible reasons for this:
1) They blew him away with a bag.
2) He doesn't think he'll play as much or as quickly as he'd like here.
3) He's FLUCKING STUPID, or has taken some horrible advice from someone he trusts.
Bonus possibility: He may have been told nicely to look around by the staff because we have bigger fish on the hook.

Maybe a guy like Dotson? Cause we already have McBryde who’s legit. I’m guessing it’s a mix of the bag and other players we might have on the hook. Regardless best of luck to him. He’ll be a stud in that conference.

Meh, he’s not that good anyways

I think the staff was understandably upset when he said publicly his recruitment was shut down. He then took a visit to Houston and informed nobody at LSU. That raises real integrity issues. I really believe we were off him at that point.

Well hopes all this doesn't affect 2025 player at his school we just offered.

This is recruiting stuff like this always happens. It will be ok. We'll do a Jamal Adams type swap.

Not bashing but read where his laser 40 time was 4.77. Not horrible, but not a burner commensurate with his ranking...

Curious if Texas an and m or horns will go after him.

He has no business playing in the SEC with that speed.

I will never see him play LITERALLY

I really thought the word upmost was not really a word until reading TDRB.
I really thought it was like ‘French benefits’.

The word was still used incorrectly as you likely suspected.
[Utmost means “greatest” or “highest,” as in “utmost importance” or “utmost respect.” Upmost is less common synonym of uppermost, meaning “at the top” or “highest in position,” as in “upmost layer.” Though the words are similar and can overlap in meaning, upmost is an error when used to mean “greatest.”]

Or maybe there's a 4th reason.
4) He wants to stay closer to home and play for one of his in-state schools.

Some people get mad at Louisiana kids that leave for out of state, but when another kid from out of state wants to stay home it's he was slow or scared of competition. Yes, I would love to land alot of these young men from Texas they are also pitching stay in state just like LSU does to kids. They just have way more options in the Texas of schools and Louisiana just has LSU. I mean we are better than all them. Pearland is about 30 minutes away from UH.
