Wow she is crazy!

Saw an article on secsports.com stating that Florida is only bringing in two freshman next year: Lori Brubach and Kayla DiCello. Since Shilese, Jafree, Sophia Butler have yet to sign, I’m thinking maybe more than one senior besides Leah Clapper is coming back next year.

I’m also hearing rumors that the transfer portal is going to be VERY interesting. Lots of top athletes jumping around for their 5th year because their school doesn’t have an open spot. Nora Flatley is rumored to be leaving UCLA, likely for Arkansas or Florida (I don’t see how Florida has a spot).

And if schools have to start choosing, how does that work? Can they back out on their offers to incoming freshmen? There will likely be so many shake ups.

I thought it was possibly Georgia he was talking about.

I think they can back out as long as the gymnast hasn’t signed yet (so for instance FL can’t say no to Kayla but can to Shilese).

One of my biggest takeaways from nationals is vault. Yes a team needs to be solid on all four events but having all the difficult vaults is not enough. The last two years the winning team had the difficulty AND the control on vault. This year that ended up being the difference for OU over Florida and Utah and what cause Bama to not make finals. We will have 2 well controlled 10 vaults next year…we need At least 3 more. Bryce and KJ only vaulted fills this year but are possibilities to upgrade. Aleah and Tori have potential but we haven’t seen if they can be consistent and controlled. I don’t consider Alyonas to be well controlled.

Another thing OU did this year is take out two seniors with 9.9+ potential (Thomas, LaPinta) and give under underclassman more experience. Obviously worked this year and sets them up well for next year.

My question is how do they train the landings? If our problem is we can’t train hard landings due to the health do the girls, then another recruiting angle needs to be those with sturdier legs who can train such landings. The form in the air on our vaults has been very good, from top to bottom, and better than a lot of teams. But for vault that matter less unfortunately

What we’re doing isn’t working and to think that a few people on a message board talking about hiring the best coach out there is undermining the program is a loooong stretch. Lighten up.

I don’t think anyone actually thinks they should or will get rid of Jay this year (and KJ leaving Oklahoma, ever, is a pipe dream). But I think it is reasonably for people to criticize Jay given this team’s unacceptable results AND given the fact that he has yet to candidly address the media about what went wrong. Because it is clear something went wrong. In other sports, the coach would have to answer hard questions - he hasn’t and that annoys me.

It’s not even the results of the end of the season. It’s also the failure to improve and progress throughout the season. The same issues from LAST year continuing this year.

This upcoming season will tell us a lot.

I’m afraid we’re going to hear the same old, same old when next season starts. For example, “Right now we have 2 10.0 start value vaults, but we should have at least 5 by mid season”. We’ve been hearing that for the past few years, and it hasn’t happened yet.

Do you not think OU has money? A "I know you've won FIVE TITLES IN EIGHT YEARS but if you come here, the stadium is full!" is not a very great argument.

Hoping that we can dig out of the 18th place ranking when the 2023 Season begins. It will take 197's plus from the start to rise in the rankings. The team and coaches have much work to accomplish between now and then.

Actually, we should start with 5 or 6 10 SV’s. We’re only losing 1 vault & it was often the score we dropped anyway. So if some of these girls were already training bigger vaults throughout the season, surely they will be ready to go by next January. There’s really no excuse.

I know you all remember Josie Angeny (beam end cap debacle). She’s transferring to UGA for her 5th year.

A little odd for anyone transferring to Georgia given what is going on right now but it’s only for one year plus she admitted that was her dream school growing up

Interestingly in a lot of the thank you posts from Georgia’s seniors. Many thanked the assistant coaches but no mention of CKC… her contact ends later this month, I don’t see why they would extend/renew her.

The 18th place finish is not exactly reflective of the season. That finishing rank is only based off the score at regionals, not the season avg nor the ending NQS, therefor it is a little deceptive
