Anyone think there is any chance we see tori vault tnite? Would love to see another 10 start in addition to alyona - really will need that for post season and then ideally only having kj as our 9.95 vault

I hope so. Her mom posted a video of her vaulting on Facebook yesterday and it looked INCREDIBLE

They could let her exhibition it. If she kills it, you may have something to work with at SEC's but this would be your last opportunity to do it with a safety net.

Woooo that vault line up so happy with kj Elena Bryant and kiya !! Alyona just coming back so will excuse that landing but really wish Sarah could start controlling her landings. Kj was underscored in my view

Last week's L and poor score was a super necessary wake-up call, and the girls responded.
Huge effort tonight and should be the boost they need heading into postseason play.

This is a damn good team when we're able to have our ideal lineups.

Hopefully Kiya is able to do floor come postseason. With her & Haleigh as the aces, anything is possible and we are a threat.

Does Jay consider swapping Dunne for Finnegan?

Sounds like Dunne may have hurt her shoulder on bars. If that's the case, Finnegan needs to go in. Also, Arenas has done her job for us since Rivers was out. Do we keep her in or does Rivers go in? Or even Jeffery? We shall see

It would not be smart to put Rivers back on bars this season, we cannot afford for her to go down to injury.

Jeffrey/Finnegan is your choice really.

That's what I was thinking. Honestly I'd do both: One for Arenas, the other for Dunne. End of story

lel fans hating that LSU was #1 in attendance this year and "they only did it because they were the only team with 0% covid restrictions at all"

Looks like we passed Alabama and Auburn tonight on NQS but it is a wait to see how Auburn scores tomorrow in Michigan. Bama will be behind us for SEC's.

So first let me say that was an excellent meet and I was glad they regrouped from last week and I am so so so glad that everyone had a good senior night! Also so glad d Antonio got to exhibition.

However I will also say that Utah was probably a bit underscored on floor and that beam rotation was lights out. We just don’t look like that on beam (save for Aleah and kiya, but they have six or more Aleah/kiyas). We just don’t quite have the polish and high level consistency that the top top teams are displaying this year. Like, I think we were the better team tonight but maybe 7 times out of 10 Utah absolutely would be. I don’t know how to fix form because most of the gymnasts come in with that.

I am not being negative, I really want so much for LSU to be the next non-repeat national championship school. I am just thinking I’ll probably have to
Give up on it for this year. I think maybe the next two years may really be our time.

Yea the lineups were almost there. That’s the best vault lineup given what we have seen all season. Edwards can’t stick but he hasnt given anyone else or they haven’t deserved to be inserted. No Brock, no Ryan and Tatum got hurt. He doesn’t take chances with new routines so it is what it is. Same with bars. Dunne is lovely on the bars but the dismount has always been the problem. If she is hurt who goes in. Finnegan only has done one routine and Alexis has only done exhibition. That’s why u use your exhibitions when u can. I’m glad though he has let Elena get her confidence and consistency. She is lovely on bars but her release on her dismount needs a lil help. That’s the best lineup for beam. I just love me some Kia. Kyia looked great tonight. I’ve always said they could content for titles but the lineups have to be right and the stars lineup in the ladies favor.

I didn’t know we had a car on our team that’s gonna drive us right to the finish line (get it? Kia? lol sorry had to make a joke out of Kai’s name being misspelled while I had the chance)

All jokes aside, I know Jay planned on todays floor lineup being what it was but I’m interested to know how KIYA would’ve scored on floor tonight given she was finally clicking on all cylinders on every event. I honestly don’t think we’ll contend for the national title this year with many of our super seniors still in lineups they shouldn’t be in but next year with the right bodies in the right lineup spots with a healthy team, DEFINITELY

Have you watched Utah’s every meet or something? Like how would you know this? Minus Grace Maccallum LSU has better gymnasts. Now maybe the scoring hasn’t reflect that this year but all that matters is how you put it together in the postseason.

I think when people say better they really mean potential and that has a lot to do with form, confidence and consistency. Yes LSU has star power, but they do have form issues in there. Utah not as much. Honestly, obviously Utah is ranked higher, and beam they are obviously better because of form, but I think LSU is the better vault and floor team overall. LSU has the bar potential minus some dismounts. Year after year everyone questions scoring, who should win but not so much regionals, but nationals always shows whose the best because the best show up and win.

I have watched some, though not all, of Utah’s meets. And you could tell tonight by their absolutely superior form on beam (as I mentioned in my original comment). Like if it’s close, they will beat us solely because of their beam advantage. As it so happened tonight we had vault landings and they didn’t, which allowed us to find the win. I also think their form on bars is better. That was my point - we don’t seem to have that finesse that teams 1-4 have, or at least throughout the lineup, or consistently week to week. They generally do, especially as it relates to form (though I know they had a clunker of a meet a few weeks ago). Also, they didn’t have arguably their best gymnast competing tonight.

Again, I love this team and this sport, but we should also be realistic. And I might be wrong, but even as a fan who has everyone reason to be biased, their beam rotation was in a different class than ours. And ours was really good!

That’s all I’m saying. I watch all these teams and there really is minimal differences. I see haleigh Bryant do a routine and then watch an average Utah gymnast who albeit Is clean in her routine but really nothing stands out and kind of simple and boom they get the same score. You really got to just put it all together enough to get to Nationals and then whoever does the best there will be the champion. Even though I heard we got screwed one year against Oklahoma.(I was not a fan at that point so I don’t know). I’ve heard LSU gym does rub the rest of the gymnastics world the wrong way because we are trailblazers and that scares people.
