I like the floor routines a lot more this year. The cheorography is more varied and seems to suit the athletes more. Floor looks like it is coming along with the ideal 6 lineup. Beam is still a work in progress - I wonder what has been going on with Dunne as I would like to see her there, she has the form and skill selection. Not sure about the seniors on that event still.
Bars is not really getting better, the dismounts on Dunne and Alyona need to be double tucks. Vault is going OK but there seems to be a drop off from last year without Bob. We are super talented on vault though so I would really like to see some more 10.0 starts. The depth in NCAA is getting insane and we do need to step it up.
Edit to say I would be very keen on any GAGE girl. Their gymnastics translates very well to NCAA.

I could definitely see her at UCLA with her gym mate Selena.

Looks like it’ll be #4 Florida vs. #5 LSU on Friday night. Any early thoughts so far?

Chances are LSU isnt gonna win, but what I want ultimately is for routines across the board to continue to improve, specifically on vault and bars. Vault has to start getting more from their 10.0 vaults and getting more of them.

I think Desiderio cemented her spot in the beam lineup permanently especially after yesterday’s meet that she had. She’s proven to be a rock for us in the number one spot time and time again in the past few years. As for Dean, I think she needs to be number 2. I think having her later is messing with her mental game with her routine. She didn’t miss a single routine last year when she was in the number 2 spot and this year she’s been 1/3, with balance checks on her one hit routine, having her later in the lineup. I think she needs to stay due to her proven overall consistency but I think she needs a different spot. As for Sami, Livvy needs to be in her slot instead. I would also be ok with Alexis taking Sami’s spot on beam, as long as she can hit her routine consistently. Her form is not something I’m worried about at all since she spent the majority of her gymnastics career until her senior season training with Aleah at GAGE so she has the same polished form as Aleah, Kara, and Leanne all have on that event

I don't expect to win, especially not AT Florida. A 197 score would be a win in my book.

With the way scores have been flying for Florida, we should shoot for 198, lol, even if we lose. I am with Tigerbait though, we need some improvement, on bars and vault especially. I am hopeful that Bridget can overcome her issues - she was my most improved over the years and loved her consistency last year.

Alexis has not trained full routines since she’s been at LSU. Jay said in an interview that they are trying to get her acclimated to college and how things work on the team. So I don’t expect her to compete this year.

Sorry, think there may have been a misunderstanding. When I said I was keen on GAGE girls I wasn't talking about AJ but about Jafree Scott, whom someone suggested in the last page. She is also a former elite so should have a wide range of skills and good form.
Wasn't thinking about AJ at all. In any case, she has already joined the team. I agree from Jay's comments it sounds rightly like she will have to work her way into lineups and prove herself, and that sounds like it might be awhile off.
No issue with Desiderio on beam, in fact I'm more comfortable with her there than on floor, where she has historically struggled postseason. But the other three are question marks for me: Durante is not consistent, Dean has some form issues, used to be consistent, but hasn't been so far, and Campbell only competed meet 1 but had some issues. I would favour giving others a go in the lineups as we work towards finding the top 6.

Spot on with your assessments. I have said in several post about Dean being second. I don’t know the inner workings of the team but Campbell must be struggling with consistency or injuries because she is a natural on beam. If it’s not an injury I feel they need to ditch the switch leap so she can be more consistent. I don’t know why Dunne hasn’t gotten a shot on beam. I prefer her beam and floor over bars. She didn’t even compete beam at the intrasquad for some odd reason given the fact so many routines were featured. I would also like to see Kj get a shot on beam. She had a good routine at the intrasquad . Jay Clark has spoken about depth and that should be a benefit. We need to utilize who are the top 6 now to have lineup set by post season. All in all I know when a gymnast falls let them go again to prove themselves, but also it’s the coaches job to make corrections based on training but most important competition. Id rather three clean fulls over a 1 and half landed poorly. Same with bar dismounts. Change Dunne’s for sure. They seem to not deduct Alyona’s if she lands it fine.

See I did not see that interview and as a result did not have that information when I made that statement. Had I known, I probably would’ve said something different lol. Thank you for telling me.

I thought I heard or read where Jay said he expected Alexis to compete at some point this year. I could be wrong, but I thought he said that.

He did say it since her transfer. Maybe it has changed since then but even with the learning curve here at LSU I could see her in the bar lineup this year. It’s technically still early for our ladies. They still have more than half the regular season left. Let’s not forget she is a talented gymnast. I’m just speaking about her gymnastics, not about anything else.

I could see her exhibition this year. Jay seems pretty set with his bars line up.

Hopefully we can see Aleah in on bars within the next couple weeks. She really looked great in the intrasquad. For her it’s gonna be a matter of getting reps and experience

Unless Aleah is still healing, I’d love to see her in AA. I feel like she can do as good or better than anyone else on any event, save Kiya and Haleigh. Other teams seem to put their freshmen out there early on, but we seem to take it slow with them. Aleah isn’t the typical freshman, she’s competed internationally and for high stakes. I think she can handle the transition to college just fine. Or maybe I’ve got it all wrong lol. I just want to see more from Aleah. She’s going to be one of the greats.

This is an interesting post by the BBS concerning what is a good score for a team's NQS in 2022 based on the trend in scoring this year. Click below the graph for the content of the post.

She’s coming off an injury though. I think that has a lot to do with her not doing more rotations
