I don’t particularly like Morgan Hurd,s gymnastics and have never understood the hype about her really, but honestly so surprised her trials petition was denied. Sad for her - she is a two time world all around medalist this quad. Also so sad for Aleah - I really did think Tom would accept all petitions from those with international assignments this quad.

Morgan was at her best in 2017/2018, but she hasn't kept up with the new seniors and current crop unfortunately. She has sorta regressed since then, not that she's bad. She did win worlds the year after the olympics with a weak quad and Ragan Smith going down to injury which is why she still gets a lot of praise.

Personally though, I don't know why he would deny the petitions. Allowing a couple more kids compete isn't a big deal. Both also have international experience (which IMO is a big deal). All thats going to do is piss off the fans and donors to USAG. Its unfortunate because a lot of their had works and dreams of getting to trials is down the drain over one competition.

I don't know if Aleah petitioned or not but she has a case moreso because she finished 5th at classics.

I noticed Heath took down his tweet. USAG is getting blown out the water for allegedly denying Morgan and Aleah's petition.

Morgan just came off recent surgeries and Aleah finished 5th at Classics literally weeks ago. Both have international experience.

Honestly, I think they’ll allow at least two more to Trials. Twenty is an even number and does not sound arbitrary. Plus there’s a lot of noise on Twitter regarding Morgan. At this point she has to go to Trials.

Hope you're right. I think honestly both should be able to participate (even though I don't anticipate both making the team). Some of the kids going to trials literally have no shot or have any international experience at all which makes this entire thing very suspect.

Future LSU target Katelyn Jong won the AA in the junior division. Someone to watch for over the next couple years.

Sounds like Aleah isn’t going to petition and head to college from her post.

She has a tougher argument to make to petition...she’s had a year to come back from injury and has a lot less international experience than Morgan. I hope she can take a bit of a break, maybe come to LSU over the summer. It will be tough to see her two teammates Continue to train for Olympic Trials.

She finished 5th at classics just weeks ago and impressed in some of the camps this year she attended. She honestly has more of a case right now than many others IMO.

Reality is one bad night ruined everything for her unfortunately. Maybe she does want to move on internally. Not sure how her body is feeling right now, could be a reason.

Honest question- has LSU ever had a big name Asian gymnast? She doesn’t seem to be following many schools (cal, Stanford, Utah, Florida)

Not exactly, unless you want to call Erin Macadaeg one

It be cool to get one though. Most usually end up in the PAC but I think the draw to education is obviously a big deal, which is understandable.

I think it’s interesting that Florida pulled Olivia Greaves scholarship but not Sophia Butlers

It's unbelievable that an athlete like Olivia Greaves would get a scholarship pulled. I'm sure any other school in America has already starting recruiting her pretty hard.

Maybe I read way too much into Sophia's social, but something has certainly seemed amiss. You don't usually see an athlete not actually mention the school she is planning on attending in a retirement post, and she just used the word NCAA instead. Leah Smith did the exact same thing in her goodbye post to JO's. Aleah then comments under Sophia's post see you in the SEC with a wink face. Not to mention she follows all major LSU sports on IG, but none of Florida's. It could be she just likes LSU sports in general. We will see. Either way, I'm not sure how LSU is going to manage that scholarship situation for the 2023 season.

Is that what happened at UCLA with Ariel Posen and Zoe Gravier?

Olivia greaves indicates on Tik Tok that she lost her scholarship to Florida (rather than decided not to go). I’m shocked if true...if it’s due to her injury, we’ve barely seen Jafree Scott in years so why not pull hers instead.

I also saw the rumors about this...I mean, its so crazy. There was, it seemed, always going to be drama with those two after the way things down with Maggie Haney and MG elite.

Very likely. Zoe and Ariel also had bad blood due to Maggie Haney situation. Zoe had long been gone from UCLA commitment.

then UCLA upgraded their recruit situation to Selena Harris and cienna alipio and likely asked her to walk on or get partial aid- it also doesn’t help that she barely competed this year.

I wish families would put these programs and coaches on blast when these types of things happen. I realize that it’s a business buy it would greatly help future recruits know who which coach is trustworthy and which are just great salesman
