But why Jay?
This dismount could have been the tenth. Just saying. She could have started doing it mid season. Makes no sense at all just to wait until she’s a sophomore just because.

After the Missouri meet, Jay said they didn't want to give Haleigh "too much" as to why they aren't halting her dismount out this season.

I mean this in no way to be disrespectful, but that makes no sense at all. Take her out of the beam lineup if that means giving her a dismount on bars that is better. It brings the total bars rotation down a tenth every time.
Also, move Kiya down the lineup. LSU has to maximize every way they can. They had a pretty good bars rotation from what we have seen this year, and it still didn’t get to 49.40. That’s the separation between winning a championship and not.

I’m glad we performed well today to move back to 3rd. Think this is a good regional for us - glad we are not in 1 regional or 4 regional !!!!

Not a bad draw at all. Utah will definitely push LSU.

I can't believe we didn't truly try to get Olivia Dunne in the beam lineup, that is literally her best event and she is the most polished of all the freshmen on that event.
I feel like the coaches said they wanted to get many routines/upgrades into the lineup all year but then it never transpired.

Yikes at Florida getting that draw as the number one seed. I would be pitching a fit if I got stuck with Denver and Minnesota. Talk about pressure to hit...

They did in 2019 as well which led us to a regional title. Honestly not mad at all about going to Utah and competing against them at home. They have a bigger venue which could lend itself to slightly more fans than many other regional venues, something our girls can use to their advantage being used to large crowds in the PMAC.

With the way both Minnesota and Denver looked today, if Florida doesn’t get Trinity Thomas back healthy for regionals on more than just bars, they’re done for

LSU getting back in that 3 spot, the regional currently actually looks good for both UTAH and LSU to advance, baring a disaster. Just hit and move on to nationals
Florida's regional will be hell with the way those other teams are performing

When do Regional tickets go on sale?

If we are going to clean up anywhere, it better be soon. How long have we been saying that? Have to find those sticks on vault (we did tonight!), clean up dismounts on bars, find those landings on floor, get the nerves out on beam. It’s not mid season, we are at post season. It’s kind of now or never!

If Jay doesn't want to give Haleigh too much they should take out the front double twist as her last pass on floor. THAT is what is too much. Not this dismount she already can do very comfortably.
Anyway, my thoughts after today: what a difference a single gymnast can make. OU looks like a different team without the 9.95-10s across the board that Nichols was guaranteed to bring for the last four years. Florida should still have enough talent to win nationals even without Trinity, but this is the second time in two full seasons that they have choked when it counts. And nearly all their athletes were serious elites and should have great mental focus.

Exactly! Utah will eat our lunch on beam if we compete like we did last night on that event.

To get an overview of where we are on each event, here are our rotation rankings.
Vault- #2 Nationally
Bars- #6 Nationally
Beam- #7 Nationally
Floor- #2 Nationally
For a team that returned 5/6 beam routines, that event hasn't transpired like I thought it would. Each week someone different seems to make a mistake. The entire lineup minus Sami had noticeable checks and leg lifts off the beam last night.

Beam has been disappointing this year. I hope it’s just the adjustment period to having a new coach there.
Jenny at Florida does a phenomenal job there in my opinion. Utah’s beam coach also comes to mind. They always look so confident and ready to attack the beam. That’s what is missing from our lineup. They just don’t ever look confident to me. They look hesitant and nervy instead.

There is certainly room for improvement in several area. However, lets don't lose sight of the fact this team is just one out of nowhere fall on floor by Bryant and one errant beam routine at Kentucky from claiming the regular season title. Those close losses were without their superstar. We saw Florid totally implode last night after losing Trinity to all but one vent.
They were a tenth of a point from winning the SEC meet last night. The announcers were effusive in praising Aleyana's bars routine yet she was given a 9.875. Somehow three Alabama gymnasts scored a 9.95 in bars. Have Doggette and Graber ever hit those bars scores in their careers before last night? Did Graber deserve a 9.95 beam? Once again Alabama home cooking rears its ugly head.

LSU's freshmen and sophomore classes had 8 of the 11 9.9+ scores last night.
