Speaking of, does anyone have any more information about Reagan? Other than wht jay said after the meet? I just wonder is it mental? Physical? Some combination fo both -when she is on she is great, but she hasn’t been on at all this season.

I can't speak for Campbell but I know she has been dealing with chronic back issues but her hip flexor will flare up too which could be contributing.I feel for her, her body isn't cooperating very much at this stage of her career. I don't expect her to be back but hope she goes out on a good note.

Reading between the lines from Jay's press conference after the meet, she must have not been as on her game as others and so Alyona or Durante must have earned it in practice over her. Her health probably contributed to that.

I think LSU wanted their best lineup out there for this last meet. Ideally Campbell would be in beam as part of our best but she must have not been as sharp as some of the others leading up to the meet. Only other area LSU could improve is putting Ryan in on vault over Durante/Brock, moving Elena back to the leadoff.

I've noticed in the last 4 meets she rushed the back layout with a fall or a costly wobble. It does indicate fear of pain or uncertainty in performing the skill. Her performance this year has not matched performances in past years...hoping it goes better for her if she competes in post season. We know she can be a beautiful performer on beam.

Do any of y’all remember me talking about Miranda Smith (WV commit)?

I sill can’t get over her floor from NL cup. I know Jay was looking at her before but haven’t heard much in a while

She is so powerful. It looks like she has committed to West Virginia.

I'm laughing at Alyona IG story tumbling a DLO

Its actually laid out.... although not sure what it would look like on the actual hard surface.

Cal could not find their landings on bars today. And Watterson had a fall in the 5th spot. Still enjoy watching them on bars. Their pak saltos are effortless.

i wonder if Schennikova's problem with dismounts is really mental at this point...like she had such trouble finding one in elite, that now she's capable, but still has trouble.

To help her with the mental part of the dismount, it might help if she does an extra giant before the double layout, help her get more momentum from the swing before she releases for the landing. She’s had that same issue with her dismount since 2018: LINK

Yea her bars were not where I thought they would be at NCAA. Not as polished as I thought she could be. Maybe that changes by next year. The dismount still needs to be changed and I will argue that until her last routine. I just worry how heavy post season judges will hit for these issues. Usually you see the details like that get hit harder during post season as they try to differentiate between routines.

That said, her vaulting, beam and floor are all far better than I ever anticipated. She’s gonna end up being an all American on vault. Could be on floor next season. She has come such a long way and you can see the work she put it in. Very impressive jump from freshmen to sophomore season. She is the unsung hero IMO for this years team, her leadership has been terrific as well.

Ironic that a potential US bar worker specialist weakest event in NCAA is bars. The transition from elite to NCAA is interesting sometimes. Bars was Finnegan's weakest event as an elite and she is a 2 time national champion on that event.

Alyona should just forget about release moves.

Maloney - Pak
Stalder Shap 1/2 (even better if she can connect it to the Pak for the "wow" factor)
Toe-on - Double Tuck

She can do this in her sleep and score 9.9.

She’s also grown ALOT from that year, several inches. Even Kyla Ross struggled with bars, her dismount in particular, for quite awhile after her growth spurt at the end of/following her elite career.

Totally agree. A lot of gymnasts hit a growth spurt once they take a “break” from gymnastics. Alyona’s was unfortunately due to rupturing her Achilles. The same thing has happened to Olivia Greaves. I read where she injured her meniscus last year and took a few months off. She admitted that she had to relearn a lot of her skills because her body changed.

Interesting that Jay hasn't had a bars routine that has had this but I see it a lot from teams like UCLA, OU, Florida, Cal and Denver. Ruby did I think a Van Leeuwen her freshmen year but we took it out because she always had a small leg separation. Alyona did a chow 1/2 connected from her Pak when she was an elite

Alyona Bars Selection Camp

Funny that Olivia Dunne is taller than Alyona but you wouldn't think that looking at them.

I have no clue how tall Tori Tatum is right now but she has grown as well.

I have zero clue as to what Alyona is capable of doing on bars at this current time but I would be interested to see if she is still capable of doing the pak to chow 1/2 or sap 1/2. I think LSU did the right move getting rid of the Maloney because she had a leg separation. I do think her growth definitely made bars much more challenging than they use to be before for her. Unfortunately that stuff is completely out of her control. She is one of the hardest workers on the team. I feel she will definitely improve her bars

Yes and I love it!

Also, Sydney Barros finally left Texas Nightmares and went to WCC. Good for her.

Michigan with another 198+ score. That should be enough to pass LSU for third in NQS.

You are correct. According to the standings on LINK after looking at the daily results, Michigan is now .088 ahead of us. As much as it sucks to move down a spot in the rankings heading into SEC Champs, I can't be mad about it, especially if things stay that way heading into regionals. That would mean Michigan gets what the FIFA Soccer World Cup calls "The Group of Death", with Cal, UCLA and Arizona State and heads to Morgantown, West Virginia and we get Utah, BYU, and Kentucky in Salt Lake City. For me personally I would rather have that because selfishly it makes travel costs much cheaper for me ( ) but also having Utah and Kentucky in our regionals takes the mental game out of it a little bit more for the girls knowing that we've beat Utah in regionals before in 2019 (granted it was at home and now Utah is hosting), but we can also beat Kentucky outright. If things stay this way with the rankings after SEC Champs, Utah is probably our biggest obstacle on the way to nationals.

I saw that about barros elsewhere - but does anyone have actual proof? And hadn’t heard it was WCC she switched to.
