I’m very glad that the rumors were not true. Sorry to post information that was wrong but it was all I had at the time.

I just don’t know why she would come back to LSU to finish school if we blocked her transfer. I would be so mad I wouldn’t come back. But that’s just me.

Me either. That’s why I think it wasn’t on LSU’s part. At least I hope not.

Her boyfriend is at LSU and I’m sure she has close friends as well. Transferring is hard socially, having to make new friends and figure out the ropes, especially if she weren’t part of the team.

DD is retiring! I for sure thought she would try for a championship before doing this. Any word on who we could try to get for another assistant coach now?

That's a very good question, but there was a law signed in place by the governor the other day that could affect the coaching staff it has to do with nepotism there was not allowed before in Louisiana that is now allowed. Once again I have no actual source on this I just saw that law and it came right to my mind

Could we see the return of Bugs to the Tiger family? She wouldn't have to coach gymnasts who were former teammates which would make it better for all concerned.

It needs to be a beam coach obviously, since we have floor, vault and bars already. But I'm not sure who is actually available.

I would love to see Bugs come back. We need a beam coach. Bugs was excellent on beam She was the beam anchor. She can also help out on floor since ACKT recently had a baby. Don’t know how much time that will pull her away from gymnastics.

She would be an obvious consideration. Presumably she still has a great relationship with the coaches. Hopefully her somewhat limited coaching experience won't be an issue. She has had a year as a full time assistant at Penn State and Jay has seen her coaching as a grad assistant.

Bob Moore is likely to stick around a few years.

Would Dana Durante also be a consideration?

I'd love to hear what D-D would have to say about this

Is there an issue between the two? She has coached Sami for three years.

I’d love to see a former Olympian as an assistant coach. Not sure if that’s in the realm of possibilities, but I imagine it would be a great recruiting asset.

Bridget Sloan comes to mind as the former Olympian I would love to see. She competed at Florida and is currently on the SEC Network.

Maybe Courtney McCool or Bridget Sloan. Bridget is a great gymnast but not so great of a commentator. I would also love Bugs. All 3 of those could take Bob's place when he retires from coaching vault as well. And McCool could help ACK with the choreography. I love DD but thinking about all these possibilities has me pretty pumped for the future!

But all great collegiate gymnasts or Olympians are not necessarily good coaches. Same in every sport.

I was shocked by this. I knew she would be retiring soon, I mean, no one thought otherwise. But I didn’t think she would retire before announcing her last season. Maybe it is for the best. Next season isn't guaranteed and it takes pressure off the team to win for her. Jay is taking over an amazing incoming class and future classes. He’s a great recruiter. I hope he steps up and changes some of the skill selections and routine compositions. He has the girls coming in to win a National title in the next 3 years or so.

Its seems clear this is related to health concerns with Covid 19. At her age she does not want to be around college kids every day.Now if only her old coaching buddy Nick Saban agreed.
