Still climbing a mountain and relieved not to fall below a 197.Just two more opportunities left in the regular season.

Any news on Kai? Must be an illness and not an injury since she wasn’t there at all (that I saw). Also, didn’t see Reagan on the floor after the meet or for the Alma Mater (that I saw!). Hope she didn’t hurt herself on that last pass.

Kai is Sick and resting at home according to broadcast.

DD said in her post meet interview on YouTube that the doctors said they might not get Sarah back this season ... really hoping this is not the case as we desperately need her.

Nice to see UCLA scores reasonable for once! Can’t say the same about OU ...

I know she's never really going to bring in absolutely huge scores, but Bridget has really proven herself and deserves so much praise for her consistent performances every week. She does everything that the coaches ask from her. She's reliable to go over 9.8 pretty much every time and has improved so much. Underrated in my opinion

I agree about Bridget. Her scores have gone up as her confidence has grown. I’m really happy for her.

I agree too. Bridget has really stepped up wherever needed and she consistently hits when it counts. I hope the coaches can work on finding better dance elements for her because that is a major source of built-in deductions.

Yes I thought Bridget's bars routine was the best she'd ever performed it!
Her leap series on floor though... Bridget, Gunter and Edney all have really egregious leap series. Hopefully the coaches are paying attention to that.
I wonder if any of them have tried the same leap series that McKenna did. Or the L-hop that Jade Carey does. There are other options apart from split leaps!

I couldn't agree more. Those three girls need a leap change badly. I never have understood how ACK and DD can't recognize this. I'm really happy for Bridget's improvement.

Does anyone know why Edwards may not return? I had thought she was getting back into the groove of things and on Friday night when she lead the team out on to the floor she looked like she was moving without pain/jumping around?

She had a new assessment with Drs. and things are not healed to the level everyone had hoped! Appears that for her long term health she will be held out until fully healed.

Any idea why the consistency doesn't appear to be with the team this year? For example, we have had several meets (including Friday's) that were on their way to being a big mid-197 for this team, only for a veteran to give it away with an uncharacteristic mistake. Though it may not be fair to say "uncharacteristic" since those mistakes are happening a lot this year.
Utah just went a high-ish mid 197 to continue to cement its No. 4 status over LSU in the RQS (yes, that meet was scored crazy at the end - the Pac-12 should not complain about SEC scoring anymore). This would have been less likely if we had a 197.6 instead of the 197.1 we ended up with Friday. Its just frustrating that aside from maybe the GymQuarters meet, this team hasn't really put together one truly hit meet (Florida was a good score, but with the Edwards fall /injury on floor, which of course has had lasting ramifications, I can't count that as a truly hit meet).

Our Team is basically the walking wounded right now
Alyona and Olivia coming off Achilles
Sarah bad high ankle
Kennedi back and elbow
Kiya Achilles soreness
Reagan back pain
Disederio coming back from hip flexor injury
Kai ankle issues and stomach bug this week
Kam Ryan elbow
Kaityn knee
Oh and Ruby 22 and everything just hurts
Have I left anything out

Veterans may be putting too much pressure on themselves to compensate for the inexperienced performers who have been in the lineup replacing the injured gymnasts.

There are many factors. LSU just lost its greatest class in school history. Cannamela, Priessman, Finnegan and Kelley were all pretty much automatic 9.9 scorers on the events they competed. We were gonna see a drop off this year no matter who we had coming in.
We are leaning heavily on true freshmen to carry the big scores. With the exception of Kiya, the rest of the freshmen class has struggled with injuries or getting over injuries. Alyona is coming off a ruptured Achilles which has limited her on a lot of things. Kai is barely hanging on to give us two events on vault and bars because of her ankle. Ryan is not available to vault or do floor due to injury. Caitlin Smith is out with injury.
Our returners are also not healthy. Edwards being out hurts our floor and vault rotation scores. Desiderio competing wrapped up as a mummy personifies this years team. Desiderio is giving us all she can not fully 100% yet coming off her injury. Campbell has had back issues. Gunter is out with injury again and coming back from Achilles injury. Edney has been sidelined for a bit on vault and bars with elbow issues. Ferrer is not available which hurts our depth on vault, bars and floor.
We are currently forced to throw quite a few routines out there that we don’t want. It is what it is at this point. We are doing all we can do with what we have. Which is why we may see an addition to the recruiting class we just signed last fall. I think we can get to nationals (Top 8) but we may be very hard pressed to make four on the floor if our current injury situation doesn’t improve within the next month.

This may be the rare occasion when the old adage you are what your record says you are does not fully apply. To have gone through what they have this season and still be ranked fifth in the country is impressive. They are well below their ceiling and it will be interesting to see what happens if they can get healthy in the next couple weeks.
This program has shown it knows how to win in March when the lights on the Big Stage shine brightest. If they can four peat the SEC and make it to Four on the Floor DD and Jay should be Co-head coaches of the year.

Utah will most likely remain 4th in the RQS Rankings this week. Michigan had high 197 this week and will most likely rank 5th. LSU will need these last two meets to be the best for the regular season.

I understand all the injuries and lack of depth - I think I was looking for any insight beyond that. I think maybe tigersbb hit the nail on the head - the veterans feel the weight of expectations and feel like they shoulder the lion's share of the responsibility to achieve them, so they try too hard leading to the lack of consistency we've seen. I have great hopes for the rest of the season, especially as we get more experience for the young ones (Alyona will eventually be an unstoppable NCAA beam worker!) and hopefully can get everyone a little more healthy.
