Is that just from Reddit? Because I read that too, but it sounded made up to me (or rather just plucked from thin air because she was injured last year) - or is there another actual source for that?

It’s definitely just made up/speculation from Reddit. Last thing we saw from Beard, she was healthy enough to start training beam again. Just because she didn’t compete last year doesn’t mean she’s planning on retiring to free up a scholarship. Until she says otherwise, we should assume that she still planning to try and at least compete for us on the next year.

Well her being from Texas dreams is definitely a concern. If it is true I would understand if she gave it up and she could become the student manager like Caitlin. If not I would love to see her on beam!

So was Llomincia Hall, Kiya, KJ, and Reagan. You can’t generalize gymnasts from that gym as all being athletes who retire after their freshman year due to injury. It varies from athlete to athlete which is why I said wait until Annie herself says that she’s retiring, otherwise assume that she plans to compete

I don't even think that if she medically retired we would get the scholarship back this year. I am pretty sure the rule is that the person has to complete 2 years before the scholarship can be freed up by medical retirement.

What does that mean. I’m pretty new to follow gym recruiting with the Olympics

She is a US national team member who earned a spot to compete for team USA at a competition overseas.
Its impressive if you are earning a spot and competing in international assignments. Its an opportunity for her to get experience and prove herself more on her quest to try to get a spot on the olympic team for 24

Her floor looks amazing and while its just snips, her beam looks like she might have the clean lines and elegance we could use in the line ups. Bars looks to be her weakest, but with a shorter NCAA routine, it could perhaps look a lot better than the longer elite routine.

Definitely need bars and beam recruits, beam routines will win or lose Nattys

Yea, I’ve noticed with a lot of gymnasts lately coming from elite that toe point is just not a priority. I see a lot of flexed feet in her bars, which is nothing against her I see it in a lot of elites. I don’t know if it’s because they are doing harder skills so the coaches just ignore the feet but it will get hammered in ncaa.

Konnor shared on IG she’s still shooting for Paris 2024 so between that and all the 5th yrs I doubt we see her until the 2025 season

I think Lincoln can do some very good bars in college (with the correct routine construction)
Lexi Priessman's bars were relatively weak while she was doing elite gymnastics and she had her share of form issues. It all cleaned up though significantly when she got to LSU. Not only was the routine short and sweet, they found skills that really worked for her.
But LSU should be in great shape bar wise with the talent they have coming in for 24 between Miller, Konnor, Zeiss and Chio. That is as good as it gets talent wise and ability on bars... Zero reason that group shouldn't be top 3/4 in the country on bars with the other talent LSU has coming in between Coen, Drayton, Aleah and company

Side note: per Cowan’s Instagram story, she’s upgrading her bars dismount to the full twisting double layout. This might actually be easier for her to stick once she cleans it up but it looks pretty good right now.

Unless Ladies can increase there start values on vault and beam, they will not compete with Okla, they have just able all 10 start values on those and it showed in scores

We should have at least five 10.0 vaults but vault IMO is not the issue. If you are scoring a 49.500+ on a event then you are plenty competitive to compete for a national title on that specific event. We had excellent vault scores despite missing KJ and Kiya.
Beam is not a matter of start value, we are lacking in execution and routine construction. The biggest area LSU needs help at is on leaps and dismounts. When you got beyond Aleah and Haleigh, there was a pretty significant drop off in routine quality in terms of execution. This isn't to bash the other kids in the lineups (they are doing their best) but the fine details on leaps (180 split and full extension) got hit hard at nationals. Then you add in dismounts kids struggles to stick consistently, that adds onto the deductions. We had solid beam routines at nationals but not close to the quality needed to contend for a title. We need beam and bars in the 49.500 range. Getting Kiya back should help a lot. But we need to find another lead off to replace Arenas at the top. That person could be Jeffrey. I am still hopeful Coen or Drayton can step up next year on one of the events as well as Bryce Wilson expanding her role
Likewise, Utah (excellent team) will not win a national title until they improve their vault lineup to a level where it can be competitive for a national title. They are outstanding on every other event but having such low vault rotation scores has hurt them repeatedly over the years despite how exceptional they are on bars, beam and floor.
