I think the team making it out of regionals would be an absolute win this year. I feel like if they can keep up the intensity they can do it - which is not something I thought was possible a month ago. I am glad Jay has been forced to use his gymnasts this year - I do think our best case beam lineup has neither Sierra nor Alyona in it, but with the injuries we will be forced to use one of them. I think Alyona should be out over Sierra - while her form is worse, is at least (or has been) more consistent.
More than anything I just want a consistent post season from them, which I feel like we haven’t had since the Priessman, Kelly, finnegan days. If we do that and get to the 8, I think this team will have had astounding success and anything else will be icing on the cake.

I don’t know who that Reddit user was but Kentucky has been greatly overscored at home. Michigan did not have a fairytale meet, and they have almost the exact same squad they did when they won so it’s totally possible for them. Florida seems to break a little mentally in post season so I’m not sure how Jenny can fix that. I would like to see Okla hammered for their easy routines. I know that’s petty but whatever. I just can’t get behind ucla, not a fan. Utah doesn’t really stand a chance in my opinion without grace, but not because of vault. I think this year could be really exciting with who makes it. Also side note, I love jade and all her difficulty but her feet form and all her 10’s really bothers me.

One thing I’ve said to multiple people both over text and on social media with regards to our team in particular is that we are either going to win the whole thing this year or we’re not making it out of our regional. If the standings remain as they are heading into postseason, we will be facing Florida, Denver and Arizona state in the regional finals, so long as there are no upsets. Needless to say, regardless of where we end up for regionals, it’s going to be a bloodbath, and without our full strength roster healthy, we have no chance of making it out of that regional, when at least two of the other teams are capable of putting up 198+ scores (aka we need KJ back and Aleah and haleigh fully healthy). But given the mental resiliency of this team, if they make it out of regionals, I have no doubt in my mind that there is nothing stopping them from winning the whole thing this year.

I appreciate your enthusiasm and optimism but I think you are definitely exaggerating LSU’s chances to win the Natty this year. I would love to be proven wrong but I think next year will be a much more exciting year if we can get a healthy team with Kiya possibly returning.

Look you said a lot that I agree with. But what gives me hope is that they were absolutely in Florida’s head during our meet. Almost intimated them. The reason for this is quietly in the gym circles LSU has a lot of talent. Can we put it all together in the postseason obviously will be the key.

Yes this team has been riddled with injuries which has really tested our talent and our depth; however my comment was roughly 33% in reference to the talent of this team and 67% in reference to the mental toughness of this team.
The last 2 consecutive years we have had endless conversations on these various recruiting threads about the lack of mental toughness of this team and how we wish they had that because the physical talent was there and that was the one piece missing to get us over the edge.
If anything, the adversity and injuries we’ve faced this year have proven that the mental toughness and the fight of this team is there, even in meets where they may not necessarily have hit 24/24 routines. We’ve lost now 3 seniors to an Achilles tear in the same season and this team is still scoring 197.5 consistently week after week since Georgia, including almost getting there against OU.
If we come out of the gate swinging every meet in the post season from the first routine to the last, and never stop fighting until the end, as they have time and time again, I don’t think many teams will be able to keep up with us and will start to second guess their gymnastics the way Florida and OU did.

The Meet Notes for Friday (W Virginia) are listed on the schedule.

Given how clean her full is, similar to KJ, I don’t think we will see either double full until next year
EDITED TO ADD: also there’s a higher risk of injury for the DTY vs the FTY which this team can’t afford right now or even this year. Next season we may be able to run that risk depending on who comes back and the overall health of the team but for this year at the very least, I don’t think we can run that risk.

Alyona is out of the bars lineup. Let's see how that goes!

I wonder why they put the DTY first on the Meet Notes? It hasn't been there in the past. Interesting...

I know taking Alyona out of the bars lineup is probably a hard thing for him to do - but it’s necessary with the dismount issues (though I am not sure if that’s why, or if it s the continued injury)

I’m glad he’s finally come to his senses about it. I hope it stays that way for post season

Also - I am looking at the meet notes and it only lists Bryce with the Yurchenko Full...so not sure if y'all are looking at a different copy.

Arenas also has a full. They also list Brock with a full but we know that’s a mistake and it was there last week, as well.
I don’t see a double full for Bryce. We must all be looking at different things.

I could see Jay putting Alyona back in bars just because it’s senior night and she’s the only non injured senior :(

They took it off. It was on there earlier. Someone questioned them about it and it has been removed from the notes.

I honestly personally hope not. Ash is cleaner on that event and could benefit from the continued competition experience. Also, it’s not like Alyona isn’t getting compete at all (she’s on 3 events)
