re: Recruiting Related Question - Are Jackson and Toliver Leaving Early for NFL?

Neither should leave. They are not going in rounds 1 or 2. Every year we hear about how one of our players will go in the first three rounds on measurables alone. Last year it was Malachi Dupre. He went in the 7th round.
Both players COULD become first rounders, but not in 2018. They DO have the measurables and, with hardwork and motivation, could prove out their potential just like Tre did.
Tre has a 4 year,$10.1 million contract, of which $7.8 million is guaranteed. He was drafted 27th overall.
Contrast that with Eddie Jackson, the Alabama DB who went early 4th round. He got a 4 year $3.1 million contract, of which $666k is guaranteed.
So by leaving early, these guys could be giving up an average of nearly $2 million per year and $7.1 million of guaranteed money.
So fricking stupid.
Follow Tre’s lead, not Malachi’s.
Btw, Malachi got a 4 year, $2.4 million deal with $66,000 guaranteed. He got hurt and released. He has since signed to the Buffalo practice squad where he gets $115k plus medical treatment and the Bills get a free look at him next camp to see if he’s worth keeping around at the league minimum. I sincerely doubt that Malachi thought he’d make under $200k this year while facing steep odds of staying in the league past perhaps next season and having to go get a real job.

no question, both will be gone at the end of the year...

they are both going to be late 1st to 2nd round type of players, IMO. and, they will both leave.
Yeah - I'd be shocked if Donte doesn't have first round grades now - and if not, he will combine himself into the first round, even if late. Toliver probably has 3rd/4th round grades, but will also combine himself (IMHO) into the late 2nd round, even if he doesn't wow with his play the back half of this season.

If you compare Jackson and Toliver to Dupre, you are a fool. Both of those guys have shown out this year. That's something Malachi never did.

They're for sure gone. Neither of them get out of the 2nd round IMO as is.

Both will get return to school grades
Stay in school only means they aren't graded to get drafted in the first or second round and it's not infallible. In 2016, 40 underclassmen received stay in school recommendations. 5 of them were drafted in the first or second round and only 14/40 weren't drafted at all.
I understand that the NFL doesn't want to be too specific, since it's a totally subjective process, but that just means that each player needs to do more research before making a decision. The NFL advisory committee recommendation shouldn't be the only determining factor.
As for Jackson and Toliver, I'll be surprised if either comes back. It's not my place to say whether they should or not.

I wasn't doing that - I was agreeing that Jackson probably already has 1st round grades, and certainly will after the combine.
I think Toliver can also improve from what I presume are 3rd/4th round (and maybe late 2nd) grades, because he will also combine well.

He was foolish to go early, although I don't know how much he would have improved by playing in this system. He was not catching on at blocking and would only occasionally show flashes of the player he was in high school.

Both will get return to school grades. Maybe, Maybe one slips into round 2. I can't find a mock draft with either in the top 2 rounds.
When DJ goes to the combine, he will test off the charts and shoot up draft boards.
