The kid was at three sport athlete at Mandeville High that is literally a stone's throw from Coach O's home in Sanctuary subdivision in Mandeville. LINK

I can't blame Coach O for missing on this one because Sheppard was only a three star coming out of high school and his offer list was lacking. But good for Sheppard now. He is going off at Vandy and will play in the NFL barring injury.

I watched this kid play basketball as a sophomore and you can immediately tell the kid had "it". Driving through the lane with a tomahawk dunk will do that. LOL.

I know it's not that big of a deal missing out on a great player at the WR position because La is usually stacked at that position. I just wish Coach O or someone on his staff would have recognized the kid's potential back then. I just don't like seeing Louisiana talent leave the state.

Add Mandeville and now Ole Miss kicker Caden Costa to that list. Will find out this year if that decision bites us

Will has a younger brother who is a Jr. this coming season and the best athlete on the team. Word is LSU coaches already have him on the radar.

His little brother is a shifty RB and a really good athlete. Pretty undersized right now but you gotta think he's going to grow in the next couple years. Has a Vandy offer and is on LSUs radar.

its hard to predict the kids out of St Tammany - since they usually end up just playing the other St Tammany schools which is not really known for football talent - way easier to evaluate the kids in Nola, river parishes, and BR/Lafayette

That’s right. Was on the Central Catholic team that went to the dome in 97. Had some other good players on that team. Curtis Randal was on that team that played at La Tech also.

So much in state talent at the skill positions and DB that a few are bound to fall through the cracks.

Will Sheppard got away? Heck, we could could almost say that Russell Shepard got away. I was expecting great things out of him, but it never happened at LSU. It seems like the staff never really developed him and just had no confidence to put him in the game. It was good to see him have a nice NFL career, though.

I remember the 2019 season, and it seemed like every good team we played had a top skilled guy from Louisiana. Bama had Devonta Smith, Oklahoma had CeeDee Lamb, and Clemson had Etienne.

An we beat everyone. You try to get what you can, won’t ever get them all. But then again, we’ve gone into other states and have gotten some of the best.
