On paper, Hill going somewhere else doesn't hurt. Hill looks like a good player, but RB is the one area that I don't think LSU will lack for the upcoming seasons. It may in fact, be why Hill is looking elsewhere. However, not looking at the depth chart, this could sting.

I sincerely hope he stays. He is a local talent that on signing day would hurt to lose. But having said that, if he does go, good luck to him. The true impact (or non-impact) of this won't be known for a few years. It would just be a nightmare if the kid is legit and ends up playing his home games in Tuscaloosa.

I don't think that is Hill's mindset.. People need to remember Hill asked Hilliard to join the class and said they could be the next Scott and Williams.

One ball and a guy like Gore, Turner, and Blue will never touch the ball as much as a guy like Ridley, Hill, or Hilliard.

Or Michael Ford or Spencer Ware?

you're reaching here, as usual.

And why cant a guy like Blue carry the ball as much as those other guys?

LSU is the only SEC school that thinks we need 230# RB's that run 4.7?

Other teams prove that smaller RB(and by smaller by LSU standards... ie mean 205-220 range) can get it done in the SEC.

huge common misconception

I think you are right. He did the right thing. He decommitted--- going on some visits and will sit down and re-evaluate where he will fit in the best. I would much rather this then for him to pull a signing day surprise. I don't think I could handle another JJ to UT incident.

I think Hill will stick with LSU in the end. 'The Fam' get-together at the end of January should really pay off in this particular situation. JMO.

I hope you're right kadi. Hill is one of the more important recruits in this class IMO.

The first one?

Because didn't Kenny regulate in the rematch? (honest question)

I'd say the timing relates to Hill taking a Bama visit this past weekend and just now being caught for an interview.

There's a ton of time left and a lot that plays into LSU's favor in this one.

My thoughts are that even if he doesn't re-commit, at least it's not a situation like last year losing Mike Davis AND Justin Hunter so we had to go digging for WRs... for our already barren depth chart.

As usual? Have we had multiple discussions about anything that I'm unaware of?

Yeah I like both Ware and Ford, but you're naming other guys that I simply don't believe are going to be factors in the same way as a guy like Hill could.

And?

where would he fit in?

Ridley had established himself. He had near 70% of our carries by all RB's this season. A lot of the others were garbage time.

Ford at that point had established himself as the top backup while Blue was hurt.

I dont see that as a knock on Blue. They saw enough of Blue in the offseason to have him in the mix over the other FR RB's, who we all thought of to me more talented coming out of HS

Well then what else would be a mindset? Seriously? Why else would a player decide to not attend his home town (much less home state) school that consistently contends for SEC titles and could win a national title during his tenure? I just don't are how a guy like him, could think he could do better elsewhere.

This is what I do not understand. Just assuming that Blue is chopped liver seems ridiculous to me.
Also I'm sure Louisiana will produce many Hill type backs in the next couple of years ie. Bourque, Fournette.

Any chance he wanted to do this before, but didn't want to piss of his best blocker so he waited until the season was over?

Some just need to make sure they are making the right decision for them... if they choose to go elsewhere just wish them the best of luck.

It sounds like he just wants to look around. Maybe he hasn't been out of Baton Rouge much. Just wants to check out Tuscaloosa and some other places before he decides he wants to stay home.

This. I would love to have Hill but RB is a position we can afford to have a decommit. We have 4 full time type backs at several different ages-Ridley Ford Ware and Hilliard. We have change of pace guys-Gore, turner. I would like Hill because I thought he was an elite combo of size and speed but LSU will make it without him. However I really do hope he ends up with us. I hate seeing elite talent leave the state.

What other guys?

Blue was ahead of both Ford AND Ware coming into the season.

obviously there is something there.

Why dont you think he can be that guy?

I swear some people take recruiting grades way too literal while these kids are HS'ers. Those recruiting rankings DO NOT mean shite once they hit campus

Speaking of a stock pile at the position and possible moves, I'm hearing a lot of talk about how well Hilliard has looked at LB.

Hill has looked better at RB.

A lot of depth at the RB position, so it won't be a make or break situation, but losing Hill would be a slight disappointment to me.
