I understand this is someone’s career but Shea, Billy, and Sam really don’t know what is going on most of the time. Just frustrating to see we pay for insider info and never really get it anymore. I listen to Shea on Jordy’s show and I’m always saying, he should know more than this because he’s just regurgitating what is surface level that everyone already knows. That’s why they use their confidence meter on the site. It allows them to always go back and say well we didn’t know 100% so it’s a guess, or you can’t predict what kids are going to do.

They know nothing because kids, parents and HS coaches have learned to not tell them anything. It’s a kids business and it’s not fair to air it out just for them to get clicks and spread something across twitter. Let the kids have their shine and do that.

Just look how bad 247 has gotten. It’s terrible. These guys are trained journalists, not evaluators. They just rank you high if you get big offers, low if you don’t. If you are ranked low and get big time offers then they move you up. If you look good running around in shorts then you get a gold star.

No doubt stars matter for who wins championships but they have stars because they are offered by good schools. Nick Saban knows who the best players are out there. Not because 247 or on3 evaluates them.

I’ve been coming to the board for 15 years. I’ve seen the highs of the recruiting sites and now the lows. Trust our coaches and other coaches elevations on who they offer and stay off these rumor sites. It will only lead to disappointment and frustration.

You pay more for the amount of content on the team and players than you do to get true legit inside information IMO. I paid for it for a while, but soon realized the reality of just waiting for it to all be out somewhere else in not much less time.

Funniest thing about the insiders is Shea's ole lady works in the FO and he might be the most clueless one.

If there was any NDA clauses she had to sign, etc. you know she's not breaking them that's for sure considering how much Shea is left out in the dark. That's who I'd want working my FO.

Shea has to hide a lot of what he knows because it’ll be obvious where it came from or who facilitated it.

It’s a pretty difficult situation for him honestly.

I think they keep her out of recruiting for this main reason. Keep her in the media role she is in and don’t tell her what’s going on.

WHO IS PAYING FOR THIS shite?!

Lol despite how close I may follow recruiting I would never even consider subscribing to any of these things.

Insiders can suck on my crystal balls.

Are they, though? They're more like gossip columnists to me.

I like Shea but I lost some respect from him on his reporting from the fight earlier this week.

Right. They’ve been to 100 practices but have never actually practiced football. I don’t think they know what the context really is.

This. Even when they have legit inside info, they are told to not put it on their site so the kid can have their moment. You are basically paying for their access to pre-write commitment stories.

Their info is also only as good as the source. If it’s another recruit, or parent telling them something that they were told, it’s very possible it’s just wrong. That’s why I always find it funny when people act like these guys know everything because they cover this for a living. They will tell you themselves sometimes that they don’t know what’s going to happen.

Yup, it just creates negative tension for no reason when reported like that. “BK is not happy; it was a huge brawl involving some of the best players”…… Fournette, Burrow, Queen etc all said they used to fight in practice lol

With Twitter, Instagram and this board, you pretty much find out everything that they know.

As long as we are top 6 to 8 after signing day and fill a couple of key spots with big time transfers that’s all we need to do to be in the mix.

Bro, without Simmons, it’s going to be very tough to get in that 6-8 position.

I think we can be very happy with this class regardless, but if you wanna specifically talk rankings, it would be a long shot to get there.

True! I love to watch them but no need to pay anybody for information that gets put out for free. Commitments usually leak out withing that 24hr window before they commit.

Twitter & NIL have changed the industry. And they’ve yet to really pivot. They used to be able to get a feel for the players & their intentions, but now with NIL they are completely clueless.

On Twitter now, kids freely post when they are offered and when/where they are taking visits. That cuts into the information the recruiting services used to provide.

As far as evaluation, they don’t even really evaluate anymore. They can simply gauge how good a player is by their offers. Move them around here and there to get a jolt out of the subscribers.

Finally, what happened to boots on the ground? I know it costs money to travel & see teams and talk to coaches & players, but from a content perspective this isn’t even done much anymore. Billy Embody is in freaking Dallas, and covers lsu? Wut? Member when Mr clean would go high school to high school & photograph & interview these kids? As a consumer, that had value. Now everything Embody says sounds like a guess, or I have already ready it on Twitter. It’s kind of a garbage product that does not deliver the information that used to be worth paying for.

I have no idea if that’s true or not, regardless I’m not going to get worked up about it until we get to the finish line and aren’t in that range.

It’s clear BK doesn’t do bidding wars and also would prefer to give the big money to players who have shown they can perform at this level. Maybe that’s the right way to do it, maybe it’s not. But given that philosophy we’re not going to have top 3 recruiting classes here so I’m not going to be shocked nor melt when we get outbid for an out of state 5 star.
