Before the wade suspension, he was all LSU. He was even recruiting trendon watford to go there on his instagram account.

I think we are very much in it for both guys.

Quinones is at least a 2 year guy, but possibly 3 or 4. He’s going to be a really good one. I also think Watford is for sure a 2 year guy.

He will be a Tiger, I think--but will it be an LSU Tiger or a Memphis Tiger?

Dang. Memphis could potentially have the top overall class (like Duke did last year) with all the bluechips considering them.

They already have the No. 1 player in the nation (7ft center James Wiseman) committed to them, so that's another nice $elling point for Penny.

But screw Penny. In Wade we trust.

It's annoying that recruits want to a play for a guy who hasn't won anything, just because he played in the NBA. He's not a hall of famer.

He's going to have to actually win some big games if he wants to keep this recruiting going.

Or maybe not... I don't know what goes through the minds of recruits. Sometimes they make no sense to me.

I understand what you are saying and it is frustrating. I don't know how good a coach Penny really is but I'd assume he is only at Memphis until he gets an NBA deal. But, as concerning his play, when he was healthy he was a great ball player and had HOF ability. When Shaq left he had to carry that team and he did until he was hit with the injury bugs.

I think it’s time these type of jokes come to an end. Hurts the image of our coach and university. Not to mention the fact that it’s been played on near 10000 times now.

I'm not new to this game, man. I am well aware of the money. But with everyone doing it, what gives a non proven coach like Penny an advantage, at a nobody athletic institution like Memphis?

It seems that, much like when Calipari was there, there must be a whole lot more money under the table than normal. Because otherwise it makes no sense to go to Memphis.

I mean, he was a good player at one point, and an all-star, but he never really put up numbers that indicated hall of fame worthy, to me. There are a lot of guys who have had a couple good years, and not much else, as he did, so that's what makes his appeal confusing to me. I know that he's a legend at that school, but it's not like every player he's recruiting is from Memphis.

I reckon it's whatever. I'm just glad we have a coach who isn't indoctrinated in AAU culture.

Its pretty simple, he can sell them his connection to the NBA. At the end of the day each one of these recruits want to be NBA players. Penny has connections all over the league, he is telling these kids that he will get them to the NBA.
