Solid get. I was kinda hoping that SC would get him as a backup for Browne, but with our limited scholarships I don't think we could have afforded to offer him.

Hope he does well for y'all.

More than anything on this list, he ALWAYS has his eyes downfield, but can STILL avoid pressure. Pretty freaking poised for a high school QB. He also seems to have very grounded responses to questions about his commitment. I am excited to see this kid come to LSU.

Only knocks when watching his highlights were constant shotgun offense and his lack of initial burst away from pressure. In highschool he may avoid some of that initial pressure with slightly slow first steps, but the SEC will demand better movement. The footwork critique is VERY picky, and the LSU pro-style offense will take time for him settle into, but as he matures, these things seem minor with buliding him up athletically and with reps under center.

Great pickup under the gun. To offer a top 125 qb and have him commit virtually on the spot is huge for this staff.

For rettig to miss most of his junior season and still be considered a top qb is a true indication of how good he can be at 100%.

There's another comparison that will work it's way onto the rant.

Since his name (Rettig) sounds as West-Central European as "Mettenberger", the same folks that compared Jeremy Johnson to J. Jefferson will be all over Rettig if Mett does well this year.

Tall black qbs with same initials
J Jefferson
J Johnson

Tall white qbs with Central Wester Euro name
Rettig
Mettenberger

beleive me folks, itll happen.

If Mett performs poorly, the rant will want Miles to rescind Rettig's offer.

IF this kid sticks we are looking good at QB for awhile, especially if he's an EE. Gets acclimated in January and sits behind Mett for year. RS FR year has a chance to battle Randall & Rivers as RS Sophs. We'll be young, but if HR can beat out guys that have been in the system 3 years we'll know we have a good one.

Also, should be a wide open competition if Mett does what we expect.

I love the big body and live arm, good QB pedigree. Can't ask for a better pickup outside of the top 3-5 guys IMO and certainly much better than expected after the top guys came off the board.

I'm not an expert by any means, but I played QB in high school and college, and I like absolutely everything about Retting. Smooth delivery, throws well on the run, poised under pressure, nice follow through. After looking at some of the comments, I didn't expect to see much, but I was very surprised. I don't see how anyone could watch his clips and not be impressed. I've seen video of some other QB's people seem to gush over & they're not as good as this guy.

What surprises me is that some have said he doesn't seem to have zip on his passes. His arm is more than strong enough regardless of what type of offense he's in. I think he's gonna be a very good college QB & I'm glad he chose LSU.

You may have read way too far into a satirical comment. Go back and read the WHOLE thing.

Look for words like "rant" which reminds most of mental retardation.
