Yesterday I posted a projected offensive one. Today it's the DEFENSE.

Guillory should not be listed as a defensive tackle. He is the most prototypical NG on the roster.

Likewise, Roy is a defensive tackle and not a NG.

That's true, but no coach in their right mind has either Maason Smith or Jaquelin Roy not in the starting lineup.

It looks like you got the DTs and the NTs reversed; Guillory is basically our only true NT.

Wingo is not a WDE. He’s probably a DT, but he might see earlier playing time at SDE.

Burns was our starting SS last year, and he won’t become the backup FS.

We'll have a good team if those transfer guys are good.

Roy and Smith will be the starters, but both mostly played DT (or even DE in Smith's case) not NT last season so ultimately 1 ends up close to center, not sure which though. Guillory should absolutely be at NT backing up whoever there.

Agree here, Wingo isnt a pass rush guy at all from the edge. He will play DT or the bigger DE spot like backing up Gaye.

Secondary is going to be so hard to project wiht all the transfers we have coming in. These are are all starting quality players:

Burns
Ward
Brooks
Ryan
Foucha
Garner
JBC

Yet there's only 5 starting spots there between CB, NB and S. So, some people ultimately are just going to backup someone. Ryan didnt play much last year dealing with injuries so naturally most people will have him a backup to start the season but that still leaves 6 other guys for 5 spots.

Todd Harris is still around? I feel like he's been around since the Miles era, or close to it.

BJ, Gaye, Wingo and M. Smith are going to be tough to block on passing downs. I see them being the pass-rush package. Overall DL looks stout.

LB's on paper look good. Now have to translate this to the field. Looking for M. Jones to have a big season. Defense was better with him on the field over the last 5 games.

Lot of new, but talented, faces in the secondary. Communication and understanding assignments will be essential. The experience is there, just need to synch them up.

This group is going to surprise some teams next season. The swagger will be back.

Plus we have Derrick Davis Jr and Jordan Toles who were also highly rated and recruited out of high school.

They have just as much of a chance to start as anyone. We just havent seen much from the younger guys yet to even know where they stand on the depth chart.

Davis is built exactly like Delpit was coming out of high school. I think he will see the field a decent bit this year, the pieces are definitely there. Just gotta get chemistry up to par and I think we’ll be nasty

That's a pretty strong arse squad. All gonna come down to corner play and health.

This could be a good team man.

Very true.
We can't overstate how much top notch DL play will help these guys - not to mention having a very good SEC DC calling the shots.

That's not a bad 2-deep at all. Defense might carry us next year.

I have to ask:

The USA Today writer says

Free safety’s……should it not be safeties?
