Our WR holding PVer
Giving a full ride to a PVer is suicide for your program. Some can do it but LSU can’t.
I doubt mondo took a full scholarship either

A Louisiana kid doesn’t need a full ride. They get Tops but to offer the #1 vaulter in the country only books.

Again, 11.7 scholarships for more than 17 events across 3 sports/seasons.
Offering a large scholarship to someone who can only score in 1 event or twice in 2 of those 3 seasons doesn’t make strategic sense if you are trying to win national championships annually
They probably wanted the kid but can’t justify a larger scholarship.
He will get great coaching at Kansas. May even win a national championship individually. But he won’t win a team one. LSU gets big time recruits, especially LA kids, to come in for less bc they want team and individual success.

Had to respond to this after the Live Oak kids freshman year was over. He was First team All American in both the indoor and outdoor season. Only true freshman in both meets. Scored at every meet he competed in.Definitely was a factor all season for Kansas, runner up in the Big 12 both indoor and outdoor behind his senior team mate.

Are there more allowed for the women's track team like softball compared to baseball?
What clearance heights are the usual minimum for men and women pole vaulters to be recruited?

So what? It’s an individual event.

They start getting recruited at about 16 feet. If they jump 17 or higher in high school that is top tier. The Live oak kid jumped 17’6” in high school and this freshman season he jumped 18’1/2”. That is huge for a freshman. He was the only one to make it to NCAA and did it indoor and outdoor.
